dirvin21
Budget? I'm no expert Be looking at a 10000 size spin reel, if you're gonna go pe 8-10 probably a stella Or even an ATC vigour which are a load cheaper Rod wise one of the venom stickbait rodsyI wouldn't buy one without holding it first you want to make sure it's comfortable if you're running 15kg of drag

Two different things really but you can get a spin outfit that can to do both. PE 10 is 130lb line class, might be good for chasing Great Whites! The reel sounds about right drag wise but I'd prefer to have a reel that can hold 300yrds(270mtrs) of the line class I am using. If your chasing kings imo you only need something like an Ugly Stik 15-24kg with something like a Shimano Saragosa 10000 with 50lb braid 80lb leader. Everyone has their own opinion on what they would use for a specific use but I like to have rods that can have multi uses, like spin trolling, bottom bashing/jigging or similar. But then again if I am going to mix it up I would probably take 3 or 4 different set us depending on the space/storage available, I wouldnt go out with anything less than 4 rods normally! There is some good info in here already on the same subject, try using the search tab to have a look around for some existing advise as well.
Jiggy
If that was for me I'd be looking at the Penn Slammer IV. The 8500 holds 600 yards of 50lb braid, the 10500 holds 540 yards of 80lb braid and a mile of 50lb. Solid drags on them; the 8500 up to 50lb and the 10500 60lb. If you want to fish these with max drags off the rocks tie yourself down if you hooked up something BIG...would be a hoot though.
frankS
I do have a complete outfit here that I have no use for, brand new with reel box and rod sash . It's a Tuff Tackle rod and reel, photos tell the story . Never seen water and it's a hand full of reel. A writer for one of Australia's leading fishing magazines tested this reel and stated it was the best he had ever used. Big statement. But it's true. Frank Theres a lot of info about them from a few years back. A review on them from alanhawk. I wont post any links but generally they are mass produced from a chinese factory and if you buy a certain amount you can choose your own colour scheme and put your own branding on them. So you haven't actually used them yourself ?. It's like. I met a guy in the pub and said his butchers neighbor had one and didn't like it. BTW they are assembled here in Australia, might have foreign parts, I don't know. Frank

Hoods
Select a price range, Pick a brand, get a matched oufit and go have some fun. Remember the poor man always pays twice. A Saltist will do a similar good a job as the Saltiga but a cheap outfit will let you down when you need it most.. AND you wont hand it down to the kidz. The guy seems to have got a lemon, although it was in 2009 when they were probably assembled in china, and lets face it they have improved out of sight since then. And now they are assembled here. I'm not trying to say this outfit would be anywhere as good as a Shimano of the same size, it's like buying a Holden but pricing a Mercedes. At least your link gives me some idea of how much they sold for back in 2009, wonder how the rod rates ?. Anyway The original poster hasn't been back, wonder if he will.? Frank PS. I see the guy lives in Perth, not that that has anything to do with the subject. Edited November 18, 2021 by frankS added text

Rebel
Ask the Tackle shops in WA, they would have a better idea. Welcome aboard and good luck. Cheers.
