kantong Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 A quick mission to find some bass on a Sunday afternoon with the young one. 1 rod, 6lb mono, size 10 hook, fresh worms and a window of 1 hour before we needed to get home. Conditions were super windy but within 10 mins we found a small patch of bass. Nothing of size, but fun to hook up. Largest was about 30cm. Landed 6 bass within 40 minutes, lost about 4. We ran out of worms, so called it a day. Hope to see some bigger ones this summer! 16 1 1
Rebel Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 Top report. Young guy looks happy. Well done. 1
zmk1962 Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 Looks like a top father & son outing… or you are very young @kantong! Were you in parramatta park? I want to chase carp there to try their salted fillets as offshore bait. cheers Zoran 1 1
Little_Flatty Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 Nice report @kantong. A 30cm bass is not to be sniffed at. Good way to spend an afternoon with my boy. Come to think of it, it’s a very family friendly place to spend an afternoon. Gives me some ideas for the future. 1
kantong Posted November 14, 2022 Author Posted November 14, 2022 Thank you @Rebel @zmk1962 - yes it was a great father and son outing, that's my boy in the photo. I was outside the park, near the weir. There were a few young fishos throwing bread and soft plastics looking for carp too. @Little_Flatty - Thank you! It's got easy access and if there's no fish, the macca's is right around the corner! 1
Yowie Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 The bass put up a fight at any size, so a good sporting fish for young fishos. 1

Hmmm I need to touch up on my fish identification because I reckon I would have thought I was catching bream instead of bass. @Obsessed Fisherman I didn't know 30g jigs worked in freshwater! 🤣 More seriously, it's freshwater past the first weir, and bass + plenty of carp are to be found. 1

big Neil Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 LOL Kantong. That's no way to be teaching your child to measure fish mate LOL. Great to see you teaching the next generation the enjoyment of fishing. It's a great pastime and gets them out in the fresh air. Good onya, bn 1

Will need one of those brag mats that lie flat next time. Thanks @Yowie @Obsessed Fisherman @Little_Flatty @big Neil @bessell1955 for the comments, a fun little session! Started as a youngish raider in my early 20s, disappeared for a long while doing other things and came back married with kids and busy with work and all the other stuff you do when you have a family! Been a wild ride, my little fishing buddies are starting to join me, but time will tell if it becomes a thing for them. 2
