The Rev
Hi Fellow Raiders, I am recently back from a 3 week holiday break that saw me up at Seals Rocks with my son for 9 days (fishing out of Forster) and then 9 days with my wife up at hawkes Nest. Results were as follows. Day 1 Forster Outside: Trolled and fished soft plastics outside - great conditions but no take home fish. We went inside and fished the Breckenridge Channel for a few flathead around teh 40cm mark. We took one home for dinner. Here is what it was like outside that day... Second Day - fished the channel again and it was very quiet. We spoke to a professional chapter boat that specialised in flathead in Wallis Lake and he had only caught 1 fish. It was a full moon and the flathead were definitely not biting. Third Day - I went outside by myself (my 26 son is not a great fan of getting up at 5am!). Great conditions again. This day I went north out of the heads from Forster up to the Blackhead Reef and caught a bunch of small bonito, several reef fish and even managed a small (42 cm) Cobia on a 6" soft plastic! I have to say he was very cute and of course he went back to grow bigger. On the way back I saw a big boil of fish that turned out to be small bonito. So I caught one and rigged it up on my big rod for a possible marlin as there were lots of reports of many being around and trolled it around the bait school but no luck. After that I returned to Sydney for a few days and then back up to Hawkes Nest with my wife. I fished mainly for flathead inside on soft plastics. I caught some nice flathead that were 45-53cm long with a bunch of smaller throw backs. The best spot being the short cut up against Corrie Island on the change of the high tide. I also caught a bunch of small bonito teh first day inside and outside the heads and the islands. Here are a few photos of the fish. After a week back at work I am back out tomorrow hunting Kings in Sydney fishing out of Manly. Hopefully I will have something to report. Tight Lines and God bless, The Rev.

Pickles
Great report Bruce - Seal Rocks is a great part of the world. Pity the Cobia wasn’t a bit bigger (Black Kingfish) as they are great eating as well as great fighters.
