FishingFables
With the river season closed I ventured up to the Blue Mountains to try and catch some lake trout on fly. The weather was absolutely freezing and gale force winds blew the hat off my head a couple of times. But wow, the fishing made it worthwhile! Rainbows from 2-3 pounds took our nymphs fished close to shore under an indicator. Hope you enjoy the video… Cheers Jason

Yes you can spot big cruising fish in the shallows and waste heaps of time casting at them for no result 😂 I had more success fishing the drop offs and other likely spots and managed to hook fish that way. The only visible cruiser I managed to catch was by casting my fly and letting it sit for 5 mins along the lane it was cruising and then giving the fly a little twitch as the trout approached. Some days are awesome, others are really hard. I’ve found the fishing better when there’s some wind and tough when it is calm and the fish are spooky.

Been there 3 times and caught just one fish. It was a good fish, but I circumnavigated the dam only to catch it when I got back to my starting place! Great effort Jason!
