First Jewfish

Took one of the little blokes from school and his dad out for a morning fishing on Friday. His dad (Nathan) hadn’t caught a jewfish before and was keen - I was pretty sure we’d get some (ended up with 13), but nothing over 60cm. Nevertheless they were stoked with th result and weather was great until wind picked up at midday.

We fished light with 12lb line and 1-3kg rods, light sinkers and prawns for bait.

Certainly a thrill to get a first Jewie and very good of you to put a father and son duo onto them

I think it takes a while for your heart doesn't skip a beat upon landing one of these special fish, even when they are small. On 1-3kg gear they would've given them a run for their money.

Good one Bob. You're always there to help your many friends with their angling. Jewies and Mahi Mahi have to be among the top looking fish species around. Great that there seems to be an abundance of them in your local system. Keep up the good work mate.
