Deep Reef off Sydney.

Gday Raiders,

Spent the day exploring new areas.
Fished the reefs midway to the Peak around 80m deep - areas I haven’t fished before.

It was a beautiful day out there - caught around 8 sergeant baker and 4 morwong along with the following:

1 x Snapper

1 x Pigfish

2 X Marbled Flathead.

On the way in along the cliffs dropped down a 6 inch strip bait that got smashed by a small king.

good work Chris. A nice lumpy reddie, and 2 marbled flatties, usually found in the deeper water. Not a common catch in shallower water, only picked up several myself over the years. Some favour them as the best of the flatties to eat.

Thanks Dave, the marbled have a somewhat translucent flesh, different to the bluespots.

Have only caught one before. Red wasn’t huge, but had a pronounced hump.

That is one great Snapper, well done!

Thanks Bessel - happy to get onto one good one out there. Pulled up a lot of sergeant backer to get to it lol.

At last, someone who has ice in his esky.

When the ice hits the esky pre fishing means I’m bringing home some fish!

Great to go to new places.

I do it for the fun & you never, never know what you will catch..

Nice Reddie.

Well done.

Cheers.

that’s why I fish too - love exploring new areas and catching different fish!

I had a big hit on a large livie when I was fishing the area. When I brought it up it had a 5cm wide semi circle bite in the centre - shaped like a snappers mouth. It went for a hard run with it in its mouth, but missed the hook that was up the front of the livie.

Lovely bag of fish, thanks for sharing the report.

Thanks Kantong! Had a great day out there. Enjoy catching some different species - only ever caught marbled flatties once before.
