Trout on a quick arvo flick

Went to a spot I saw on Saturday afternoon and couldn't fish then so went out for a fish this afternoon.

Nearly took an impromptu swim a few casts in.

Cast to the top of the pool under the bridge I parked at. Said to my mate, would love to catch a fish and two seconds later get a hit. Nice early 40s rainbow landed.

Two more smaller fish followed from the next pool up but had to leave as soon as I arrived, was needed at home. Oh well can't complain about 3 trout in 10-15 minutes of proper fishing.

All taken on a copper gold spinner.

Thanks Bessel, I wonder if it was a hybrid? Definitely not a brown only, look at the pink on its cheek. 

Heaps of people thought that it was a brown also.

This is a brown I caught there today, definitely no pink on the cheek there. Caught about six other rainbows, kept the largest at 30 cm

Definitely a rainbow, just quite spotty. Nice fish!

Oh, OK so the Trout I commented upon is not a Brown but is in fact a Rainbow?  Do the interbreed?

Yeah that's what I reckon. You're not the only one who thought it was a brown though. All my brothers thought so too.

I'm wondering if they interbreed.

Great report @jaybez, were the copper gold spinners Celta’s or other brand and did you try other colours.? What weight rod / reel / line were you fishing ?

No the spinner was a mepps, and that is all I used the first time around

Second trip I used the rapala countdown elite along with the mepps spinner
