  1. hello all im after your opinions on where would you eat or not eat from the georges river mainly jewfish. i've been catching a few along the river so this information is critical as i've been feeding them to the relos until my friend told me upper Georges is not such a good idea. there are old posts but i would like the latest opinions, thank you all
  2. many people use albright but i don't like it too difficult to tie on a kayak uni/uni has a weaker knot strength as i've lost some good fish on it, best one is stren know, its a uni / half blood, big as the uni/uni but stronger imo.
  3. what a crazy catch. congrats!! how can you stand the cold with a T -shirt? lol
  4. use 6lb fluoro carbon, 3-4lb powerpro braid, 7foot 2-4kg graphite rod. hopefully your on a kayak or a boat... if you are land your just not casting far enough use heavier jighead, i find 1/16 is just too light to cast far enough, lightest i go is 1/12 and thats when theres no wind. i like my 1/8's in 3-5m of water. 1/16 i use dead sticking because they are so light its like bait as i drift on my kayak and use blades in my hand. if u want to use 1/16 just put on 2.5inch sandworms, camo colour and deadstick it or wiggle it slightly. stick with 2.5inch banana prawn. (small lifts/rips with big waits in between) pumpkin seed 4inch turtle back worm (work like minnow, lift lift drop) 2.5inch camo sandworm (dead stick)
  5. great photos, great report, your a legend to share the location. very thoughtful, thank you!
  6. in all my years of fishing the bay in a kayak never saw a shark. for kayaking ideas, try kfdu and akff, tons of information!
  7. hard body actually, jackall chubby! i don't fish plastics anymore, lost the confidence.. lol
  8. Happy Easter everyone, fished ramsgate towards the channel then to towra, the masses of boats really turned the fish of. there was about a 15 minute break from when the wind changed from S ish to N ish PLUS no boats zooming past, that the fish loaded on. 3 out of 5 fish came in that 15 minute window. all caught on hardbodies/blades. i will let the pic speak for it self. the jew measured at 75cm, my PB.
  9. georges river , the deep channel directly from the mouth of the river towards the middle of the bay heading towards the heads. right place right time, even scotty lyons is saying there are fish right now between the sticks and dolls point. those transparent things are flatheads in the middle of the sun, slime reflected light
  10. i thought i should post because the lures section hasn't been touched in ages! trolling hb's and blades were the gun lures on saturday morning as the SP just did not seem to produce once the water ran out and the water become dirty the fish was on!! 4-5m of water bewteen ramsgate and towra was the key depth as the shallows just did not produce around towra pt when you see bottom. my big family enjoyed a great feed and its been a long time since i had this kind of success. all caught from 7-10am even though i was there from 6am-11am. all fish from high 30's to low 40's with under 30's released. with all the kings and jews i couldn't even post if it wasn't something like this with the bread and butter
  11. great catch, can't even imagine pulling one of those in on my yak. one day.......
  12. nicee they make great fishcakes. make sure you fillet them away from home... most stinky fish a live
  13. nice one mate your doing good on bait wheres my invite on your boat aye??? ha
  14. i would suggest trolling first with a hb, thats what i do until i find a patch of them. then change to sp in saying that i've done much better on the troll than sp. maybe its because im covering much more ground.
  15. im no expert but all the readings online talks about 1/16th i go up to 1/8 depending on depth eg 4-5m 2-3m i use 1/12th i think most importantly is casting distance , if u are not casting far enough theres no point using 1/16 now mind you 1/16th they will hit it on the drop but when i use a heavier jighead it seems they are picking it up when it hits bottom. i actually don't have much success using 1/16th but maybe thats just me.
  16. i hate fishing on land , catching nothing and too much people next to you, due to the mass population, so i went this direction kayak fishing 10 min to load, drive, 10min to unload and your on the water troll to your spot, use lures or bait cheapest way to fish i say clean up is 20mins to hose everything down... only need soft racks, not hard ones, look up hobie kayaks, peddle kayaks i fish georges river and botany bay, love the bread and butter with the minimum 30min boat ramp wait, this you got no problems launch of any beach or ramp pm me if u got questions, can't stress how much i love my kayak and fishing
  17. heyas all fished run in up and run out today at towra to wooloware bay flicked sp everywhere near mangroves, oyster leases etc trolled the weed beds only managed 3 flatties around 38cms and one pike at 42cm this is not so great for me, and from memory, every time its full moon the fishing isn't so great during the day if anyone can enlighten me, is it because the fish has fed all night long? regards CJ
  18. the wind has stopped me fishing, doing nothing now -_-

  21. heya all thought i'd post a report as its a few trips in 1, and there was something special about one of them. i think the most memorable story would be me, losing my berkley landing net... as i thought it was leashed and as to see it sinking i was gut wrenched. i spent half a hour trying to jig the same area to hook it back with no luck, just as i was about to give up i saw a flash, and spent another 30minutes !! still no net so i was pretty depressed, trolling around and manage to hook up to a beauty of a flattie. while being stressed out with no net, i emptied my contents from my milk crate and after 5 goes, i got it in!! the experience of landing this fish was amazing, the pure concentration needed to do this task. my hands were shaking after as i was fishing 8lb leader and a tiny hb. Being a school teacher im loving my holidays right now. last 2 wks trips below - dolls point/ towra /kurnell just legal snapper, 50cm flattie, sp drift 2 trevally 1 bream trolling 11 bream, 3 trev, anchor/burley/nippers 3 tailor, 1squid, 1bream, 1pike drifting sp/trolling 66cm flattie, 1 bream, 1 flounder,1 trev drifting sp/trolling
