  7. hey all im geting my hobie revo next tuesday and i've goten a poormans downrigger going base of a big rod, 8000 old reel, some 80lb mono, snapper lead, rubber bands now my question is what kind of hook do i use with the sluggo a big wormhook a jighead? texas rig or California rig all so confusing but looks similar when im trolling wouldn't the sinker be near the hook anyway? thanks!!
  8. on a serious note, i was told to yank it out with fishing line , someone else doing it for you asap too before it swells. but that was a jighead, i did it, and it hurt like crazyyyyyyy, least no hospital. but wouldn't know if trebles would work. 2 hooks? tie 2 fishing lines? that would hurt like mad. the docs just numb the area and yank it out anyway.

  15. havn't made a report is a long time 2 of the sessions 1 im proud of would be catching my 39cm pb breambo and on another day landing 3 salmon 1 tailor and my mate landing 4, 40-55cms drifting, changing colors, casting plastics, trying out different retrieves nothing better then landing a big fish when you got the action right. see you on the water!
  16. hi my favourite knot is rapala for the loop leader to jighead and stren knot for fluro to braid to me its a great knot for when you want to tie it quickly its not as slim as albright but its so much easier to tie even in the dark pretty much a uni and a 8 turn half blood/clinch i've used uni to uni and lost some good fish and its harder to die since its a 8 turn uni for the braid and half blood or clinch knot lost some good fish too 6lb leader landed myself king rats while i used clinch i'd lose them love the rapala as its only 3 turns even tho you have to do a overhand which you get use too.
  17. that is awsome mind letting us know what kind of burley you use? thanks
  18. thanks for the comments guys yes say g day , love to match the faces to the nicknames trev is still there, went there dis morning and got 5 could of goten more but the wind went to 18knots or so my mate hooked on to a biggggg one like 50+ and the 6lb gone, he is noob at fishing didn't know how to fight it properly oh wells.... really only get 1 hr decent fishing at sunrise..... the sun comes up so quick in summer or is it just me..... wishing it lasted longer
  19. trying everything when something doesnt work , had some hit me because i cast and jig it sideways with my rod some i let it sink and jig it up like a minnow thanks for your compliments ! i targeted kings because i still had trouble geting alot of bream, maybe it wasn't meant to be.! i have however learnt to catch whiting land based, wearing a full wetsuit, pumping yabbies as berley and use them as bait. they taste just if not even better then bream. now im into the sport of fishing for the bigger species!
  20. for 2 weeks i've been trying to land myself more legal kingfish but boy they are hard it all started when i landed a 55cm rat on 4lb got myself new gear and lures- been around kurnell oilwharf and the drums just drifting, using sluggo soft plastics 9 trips in 3 weeks so far 6 trips got rats out of the 5 trips , a photo and off they back into the drink only 1 time legal a 71 and 66cm both in 1 day its werid how sometimes theres just rats and when the conditions are right there must be legals around! 3 trips fishless and it could be the wind , current , but thats fishing 1 of the highlights is a 61cm flathead, perfect for fillets still trying new techniques like berleying, poppers and others hope to beat my pb of 71cm soon i am in a blue 2seater tempo 2 fisherman kayak say hi if you see me around the wharf or drums!
  21. impressive yet again im thinking of geting a boat so i can move to different spots 1 down side of kayak fishing =)

  23. theres alot of trevally around in kurnell now fished the run out i got 8 my friend got 3, they weren't aggressive at all but i knew they were there couldn't manage a bream, bright day may put them of or im not doing something right hooked on to 2 40cm kings and a 52cm, and they went back 4lb and 6lb leader it was the most fun i've had since i've started fishing have to start pumping yabbies and give it a go again i do land 1 or 2 with bait more then lures any pointers to fish kurnell for bream? pm me thanks!!
  24. wow top day i can never get a large bream from that area
  25. there is no offical recipe i made it up , i use to be a chef so everything was off my head 2.5kg trev fillet no bones, blood meat taken off (9 trevs meat ) half a bunch of green shallots diced 2 handful of plain flour salt and pepper , now rule is 100g for every 10kg table spoon chinese booking wine 2 tbsp oyster sauce 3 tpbs soy sauce 1tpbs maggie seasoning 1egg dice about half the VOLUME of the fish - onions so for me it was about 4 large onions 5 gloves garlic minced (blender) same amount of ginger minced cook the onion with garlic and ginger allow to cool down mix with the above seasoning and fish now you can use half fish half chicken or you can add prawns or corn (my wifes favourite) put into those dumpling skin which u buy from asian shops not wonton skins the thicker circle ones let me know how it goes!
