  1. its was good to get a feed of fresh seafood... i almost resorted to BUYING !!! I tried every known spot in Botany for close to 2 hours for a donut... first time this has happened in years! Good to see you guys getting stuck into the dollies... i'll be hitting them soon in hopefully a new boat fresh crabs and flatty fillets.. unbeatable... Saw the price of flathead fillets at David Jones food hall and almost died! hahaha... that's what many people have said also.. from fishing 2 or 3 times a week to not flicking a lure for months has been a major shock to the system... Been busy getting ready to sell a few properties and moving closer to the water/boat ramp Looking forward to that! Hey Tony Stamp collecting takes its toll on the spare time! Hours spent sorting alone... but It was good to pick up a fishing rod again! I tell you what, I have never seen so many crab traps in the water.. the word must have gone out the crabs are on the march... there must have been 40+ traps in a 500sqm area! And yes, plenty of clear bottles used as floats! Mate , we still need to tee up that whiting/bream or flatty/squid info swap session... let me know when you are free and we can line something up. You keep posting you stories.. i love your reports. Catch up soon Trung
  2. 5) no squid at all in the bay! Where have they all gone!!!
  3. That's the question I asked when I saw the polycraft sitting in the driveway... It's been months since I have taken the boat out as I have recently taken up stamp collecting as my new hobby The wife wanted feed of fish and some blue swimmers so got off my arse and found out: 1) there are plenty of quality flatties 2) there are plenty of quality crabs 3) the honda on the back of the boat starts first crank after months sitting there 4) damiki 55mm vibes out fish all other lures on this day! All up it was a great few hours in Botany Bay... plenty of fish/crabs (and people!!) so go get them! Hope everyone has a great 2014.. see you all on the water! Cheers Trung Cheap flatty fillets!!! OMG!
  4. Caught countless flatties on the Ecogear VX50 and recently been doing really well with the Damiki Vault 55 These larger lures slay the flatties!
  5. The way I see it is if you are already spending tens of thousand on rods/reels/boat etc what is a few extra $$ on quality lures / jigs? With only a limited amount of time available to hit the water I want to make sure the lures i'm using are proven and work..... don't want to worry about cheapy lures swimming sideways! In saying that sometime you have to wonder how they can charge $30 for a Jackall TN50 when Kokoda G-Vibe knock offs are $5 !!! $30 Jackall $5 G Vibe
  6. Plenty of yellowtail around the cove where the tug boats are docked... you will see boats there all the time filling the tanks with yakkas Just berley with bread and they will come.. single long shank hook with a bit of squid/pillie/whatever will do the trick you can't miss~! Trung
  7. Hey Gary How is your new place on oxford street ? Now you will be closer to the shop where you buy all your leather undies and pants from! Catch up soon Trung
  8. Would I be able to buy one of these stella 1000 from Big Ws ? Any change out of a $20?Nice to see you getting fish in a new waterway... Good stuff
  9. Hi I had the same issue with my Gen 1 HDS5... worked ok but could never get rid of all the "noise" no matter what I did... trust me, I spend months and countless hours with the setting , frequency, different transducer position, heights etc still no good. The issue is worst as speed builds. I finally got the shits and bought a Furuno 585... installed the transducer in the EXACT location, left it in "auto" and got a perfect view first time out... even when going at 50km! Speaking to a few people I have been told its very likely the "noise" issue might be due to the factory HDS5 factory tranny design and my boat hull combination... The suggestion was to get an airmar transducer (P66) instead... could not be bothered by then and dropped a few dollars more on the Furuno which I should done in the first place. The HDS is now used only as a chart plotter which works fine Good luck with your troubleshooting Trung
  10. lucky bastard.... i took a few weeks off from fishing locally after coming back from that mammoth fishing trip up Weipa.... Hit the bay/georges last week and landed 20+ flatties and bream in a short 2.5 hour session... heaps around atm Went game fishing just this past Sunday and hooked up to my first marlin with Brickman... see the game fishing report! Now that was fun! See you on the water shortly Cheers Trung
  11. mate - nice set of snappers... well done! no work today
  12. Hey Gary Thanks for taking me out and showing me the ropes with game fishing.. I'm only use to catching squid and flatties! It was a great day out and mate, your farts smell really bad... you need to change your diet buddy! Anyway, to see 450m of 50lb stripped from the saltiga overhead in 40 seconds was something to behold... truly amazing... The fish was massive, as Gary cleared the the other rods the marlin was breaking the surface just meters from the boat.... when it felt the hook oh boy did it run! On its third run, there was like maybe 50 meter of line left when we decided to bump up the drag all the way....... the braid popped... a choice set of words followed! I have never hooked up to some with such amazing power and speed.... could not do anything but to watch all this line fly off the reel! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....... We had the fish on for a few minutes and that was enough to get the smiles happening all round... No pictures of the marlin ... but here are some flatties I got last week.... i'll be showing Gary how to do that next time we are out! Cheers Trung
  13. Hey mate That asian guy with the polycraft who (tried) to give you a hand was me! Too bad we could not get it going.... The fuel is getting to the motor as the primer bulb gets hard after a few pump...+ you can see the fuel in the clear fuel filter Seems to be an ignition problem... I would be checking the coils, leads and plugs. Good luck getting the engine sorted... you will love the polycrafts once everything is up and running See you one the water next time. Cheers Trung
  14. Hi Roberta The Irwins, Terri + Bindi + Robert were all at Weipa airport on the day we left... They were all really nice and happy to have a few pictures taken... Here is a pic of Terri getting patted down Cheers Trung
  15. What a trip away with a bunch of crazy clowns! Laughs and fish all week long... everyone had a ball! First up a MASSIVE thanks to Ray for arranging everything, you are a champ mate. The fishing was great and the conditions got better as the days rolled on. We did 2 fishing trips each day hitting the beaches, creeks and offshore then went back to the boat to dick around with the sharks at night! Plenty of fish was caught and we ate kilos of the finest fillets found anyway...mmmmm I getting so hungry... Thanks Ray, Gary , Stew and Grant for a trip I will never forget... Boys.. WHATS THAT! hahahahahha Here is a few photos from my camera, enjoy~! Trung
  16. Yup donuts all round on the hairtail... but I did catch a MASSIVE jew Stew, ready to head out again ?
  17. All the lures can been seen in the pictures ... 2.5 orange berkley powerbait jig and a 3.0 red yo zuri . If you shop around you can find the powerbait jigs for about $8... I paid less than $3 !! They do work really well for me even though they are made in some 4th world country instead of Japan. Throw them out.. wait till it nearly hits the kelp beds and slowly work it bAck.. Too easy. It you are not snagging up every now and then means you are not working it close enough to the kelp bed
  18. Very Nice! Always good to smash a PB by 30cm Snapper and hairies.... Winter is not that bad Well done buddy.. see you out there!
