hay buddy one thing i have learnt from building live bait tanks u can never have a big enough overflow fittings i have 60mm outlet 19mm inlet and it still fills up quick.. 500lph pump ps if u are gona use a big skin fitting make sure u mesh the inside cause yakkas can get stuck and cause tank to overflow, also make sure the water runs down hill otherwise u will have a trap of water which will make the tank overflow, (water cant get out) i have seen many people do this.. good luck make looking forward to some pics!!

i preffer hand size cuttlefish over squid for king baits but to eat cali squid i personally find better for eating ive experimented heaps with dual downriggers with both out same time (live) cuttle always gets taken first might have just been that day visability ect.. but im convinced they are better for baits it could be that they troll better due to the bone? were as squid can spin if trolled to fast duno...

not being a landbased fisho i do recall a few times having luck whilest fishing for surgeon fish when i was fishing the piers in the city.. caught a few kings from there using live yakka's and live squid just on day light set up was 12ft rod 6500 baitrunner 50lb mono 80lb leader with a small float only need to cast 10m away from the piers hope this gives u another option!

thanks guys the type of fishing i do i only ever use my downrigger now i have 2x but have had 2 many lost fish due to tangles even setting one deep and one high.. couldnt believe it was a red after the good fight it put up... Now i have the erge to get out there and set up for reds anchor and burley with 4 rods out i have never targeted them but ill have ago with 2x bait rods 2x plastics rods around the area geez they are nice on the tooth fresh.. cant wait.
