  1. Read this earlier guys. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw-act/missing-fishermans-body-found/story-e6freuzi-1225862282046 Sounds like a freak accident and my thoughts and condolences go out to his family.
  2. If you don't have a very big boat, maybe just one of those wash brushes with a extendable handle will do the do. I started using one of those after the thought of buying a Gerni, but by the time you set the Gerni up you could have washed the boat down with one of these brushes anyway.
  3. A mate and i went out this morning in Botany Bay as well for a squid session in preparation for some jew hunting nights. All the weather forcasts i read didn't predict anything like we experienced. Wind was up, water was sloppy, so we ended up at Towra then Brighton as well. Didn't stay long wasn't happening there either. Watched some poor old bloke at Towra get the book thrown at him by Maritime for having crab craps in the no go zone.
  4. After years of boating and something that i still haven't quite mastered, motor down when starting once you've launched, motor up when your retrieving, i think it has something to do with being excited about going fishing and being even more excited that i've been fishing!
  5. Mike, All the best today buddy. Hope you ended up going out and celebrating with a stripey or dollie. Cheers.
  6. Where abouts was it stolen from?
  7. Fantastic write up. Thank you for taking the time and sharing your experience. Reading reports like that make you want to book a trip interstate with the mates and go with the flow.
  8. Bad day fishing beats a good day with the wife!!!
  9. Thanks Chris, appreciate the advice.
  10. Congratulaions fellas, thats a stonker. I've been trying the bay for kings the past few weeks for not much success at all. I've had livies out next to the third runway and not even getting touch. Care to share what bait you've been catching them on and what vecinity of the Bay? PM me if your feel more comfortable.
  11. Looks pretty good, and it doesn't seem you've missed much. I first tried one of those curly hoses, the same type as in your photo, as a wash down hose, there CRAP. Cut yourself normal cheapo garden hose the length as your boat and you'll get a better result. Im using it with a RULE 800GPH pump, and its just ok to wash off squid ink!!!
  12. Since the updated version on Fishraider went up its been a dream. My iphone senses there is a version more suited and runs with it. Good thinking Admin.
  13. Yes like 40ft container you see on a container ship, apparently when there sealed properly, there air tight and float. They are known to submerge just below the water line and can't be seen if there's a bit of swell and chop around.
  14. As we were launching at Botany Bay this morning, we overheard a "MAYDAY" call, and apparently the captain had hit a container which was submerged in the water, 1km off Botany Bay heads. Nothing more was heard from him after the call, so i hope he was alright and managed to get picked up by a passing boat. Has anyone heard any more?
  15. What a awesome day. Well done to Mike and crew.
  16. I'd leave it to the experts personally, i got a professional to do all the work on my boat, and its a good feeling knowing that wires aren't going to short out and set the boat alight when im out there. You can get away with running one really good battery, but i installed a dual battery set up in mine and would reconmend it to everyone. How many times i've seen and heard of someone getting towed back all because they had a flat battery.
  17. Your no idiot, thats right, thats why there "nicknamed" jew, short for jewel. I wouldn't go rubbing your hands together just yet, its not worth anything!
  18. If you boys didn't leave the bungs out, we wouldn't be in this position.
  19. Houston, we have take off.
  20. Well done guys. Great to see this type of activity not far out of the heads of Botany Bay.
  21. Invest in some traps and experiment with bait. My first time crabbing, i only landed one, now its a different story. Just like fishing, move around, try different spots and different bait options.
  22. Mike, You love your Dollies, and what a result. Let me know if your going out during the week and i'll be there.
  23. I tie $50 notes to the bait loop. It tricks them every time. Just kidding, can't give away all my tricks to the trade.
