  1. Decided to go kayaking with the wife at Kangaroo Valley on Wednesday, when the brochure read bring your fishing rod it was the deciding factor, Lets go. After hiring the kayaks we put in at Bendeela and headed towards Tallowa Dam. Never fished here before and the Kayaks weren't set up for fishing, but after a bit of getting used to it,finally got into a rhythm. Ended up catching 6 bass all on purple 1/4oz spinnerbait, no hits on the surface. Fish were from the smallest I've ever seen to 30cm. Deb didn't have much luck on the fish, but she was in her element, spending most of her time on the camera getting some great photos. Stopped a few times for coffee and picnic lunch, and just enjoyed this beautiful waterway. sorry about the photo size not sure what happened

    Suburban BASS

Cracking afternoon, Great to score bass on the surface and spinnerbaits so close to home. Was a bit worried when Stew christened the boat SS Minnow, we know how long that tour lasted! Pretty happy to see Stew on the other side of the camera for a change.Ha.
  6. Yep another awesome trip. Thanks to Stewy,Steve & Dave (John Dory). The place was pristine and although it was hard work getting to the holes and extracting a fish it was worth every minute, so we put in a real solid effort every day. In between their were some Truly hilarious moments. Steve's ongoing battle with a noisy bird and his documentary on the wildlife. Dory the explorer river crossing (there is a video). My skinny legs and Stewy just being Stewy, all providing comic relief. Was rapt to get my first cod on the surface,4 of them falling for a Jackal Pompadour. We landed at least 50 cod for the trip with Stewy thinking that a few of them could be Trout Cod. Most of the fish were taken on spinnerbaits(purple & white, black & red) from pretty skinny water. Steve cracked a great 60cm model on a Stumpjumper from probably the deepest hole on the river. I was basically in the middle of a conversation with Stewy when he had his micro sleep which goes to show just how easy it can happen. Cheers Deano
  7. Nice, thats a good looking green rug you've got him lying on too.
  8. Nice session fellas, surprised the fly rod didn't get a hit out?
  9. Great land based catch on light gear, no wonder you had a big grin on your face !
  10. Good on you Sasha, Wonder how long till you ban bait on the boat. Ha not mentioning any names !
  11. Good to see you getting them on the fly, bet you were stoked. You were showing me all that stuff at the last soft plastic social. Looks like it worked a treat today. Cheers Deano.

  16. Oh Yeah, What a cracker of a fish on spinnerbait. Going cod fishing again in December, and can't wait ! Been a couple of times now and I think I'm addicted. Looking at that fish is going to make me dream more. TOP EFFORT Deano.
  17. Great first report, always good to read about a great beach session. Nice modification to the lure. How far south are you on the south coast?
  18. Agree, really liked the underwater shots. Sounds like your not too far away from getting that Jew, shame you didn't get to see the fish. You must have only had light gear throwing 2"grubs. Many a person been smashed up using heavier gear ( I have) Those squid are a nice consolation prize. Cheers Deano.
  19. Yep Always love going to Port Stephens,Will have to try and get there soon. Might have to book in for Scratchie & Sons guided fishing tour. Ive heard they get good results.

A big pat on the back to all the instructors, and to everyone who took the time to turn up on the day.Good talking to people who not long ago,by there own admission, didn't ever catch much, but are now regularly catching quality fish. Fish raider must be doing something right. Regards Swano
