  1. Correct port jackson sharks are no longer protected, but have a bag limit.Yes wobbegong sharks are now protected.I would rather take the hook out of a port jackson anyday over a wobbegong.
  2. top effort mate, good to see a few jew around.I,ve never caught jew off wanda before.Don,t forget to keep the jewels from the head. First jew is always the most memorable pongrass18ft
  3. I also love eating stripies as mentioned, most people should try certain fish before saying they,re rubbish. The back straps make for a really great feed whether raw or lightly cooked, george i told you the pike are yumm.
  4. excellant mixed catch, mate be careful on eating them though .parra river ermington there are signs up no fishing allowed there contaminated sad because the fish are there in big size and numbers. pongrass18ft
  5. well spoken, if in doubt i,m happy to go to plan B.And if in a new area tread lightly because usually thats when the unexpected will happen. 10/10 to the guys who went to there rescue. pongrass18ft
  6. excellant idea roberta, when only the best will do for your garden pongrass18ft
  7. Yes,very serious kingfish around 5kg 70+ models will eat trevalley of that size with no problem. Mate last year the hacking had lots of king inside the bays and quite frequently while fishing kingfish would ambush any of my sick throw back fish that were fluttering on the surface fish like small snapper, sweep, bream and i,m sure other fisho,s have seen similar. pongrass18ft
  8. lovely squid there guys.salt and pepper squid yumm better than the arrows for eating. pongrass18ft.
  9. Mate, nice feed of Trevally. I've caught them twice this week and enjoyed them for dinner. Bled straight away and ice them down the flesh stays A1 and beats anything you can buy from the fish shop anyway. When they are the main fish around you may as well go with the flow . Next time you can't get Yellowtail send a live Trevally down. If the Kingfish come through hang on. pongrass18ft
  10. pigs can,t be changed, mate i,ve seen bins in areas mentioned, and all the pigs do!!yep burn the bloody bin,I guess it,s back to the basics how you,re brought up
  11. mate before marriage it was a NO NO to cleaning fish. Now i,m married my wife cleans and cooks the catch with a smile.Well trained ah.
  12. Excellant catch, what a feed from that fat yellowbelly.
  13. Mate, I think I may have seen you around 11.30am in the 70ft hole area on the corner. I stopped there near the red cannel marker on the left. The top end of the hacking fishes really well especially through winter. I'll have to give Gymea Bay a go next time I am out. Gee, didn't the wind get up quick yesterday . Pongrass18ft
  14. What type of boat did you buy? I don't fish Botany Bay much as I'm always in Port Hacking...cleaner estuary. The drums in the middle of Botany Bay is a spot where you can catch everything from Jewfish (large) to Kingfish, Trevally, Snapper etc (you can also gather your live baits here). Another spot I have done well is near a white pole on the Kurnnel side near Captain Cook's landing spot using worms, I have bagged out here many times on the biggest whiting I think the Bay could hold along with other species Bream, Trevally etc Happy Fishing Pongrass18ft
  15. Nice catch. The Hacking can be a hard place to fish at times. You have to be at the right place at the right time. I was out for a few hours in the morning (5am to 11.30am), couldn't find the Tailor but got stuck into the Trevally schools again, excellent fun on light gear . pongrass18ft
  16. Mate, you guys surely turn it on when you go offshore. Congrats on the catch. Love the video clip. pongrass18ft
  17. Mate in England they eat them for Christmas dinner like we eat Turkey. They have to put their orders in beforehand....Weird aye. I used to do Carp fishing years ago up at the Nepean River at a place called Yarramundi. The Carps up there are 1m plus models. Best fun on light gear. At the same time I would bag out on Mullett which are also huge up there in the Summer months. Haven't tried Carp myself but I know where you are coming from.....they look horrible and they stink! pongrass18ft
  18. Hi days fishin, mate 14kg is an excellant catch . I'm only up to the 7kg mark. The Hawkesbury does hold large Jewfish and it's on my "to do list". Love fishing up Spencer way though as the schoolies are easy caught especially for the people trying to catch their first jewie. pongrass18ft
  19. great catch. Bet you went off to work with a smile on your face pongrass18ft
  20. Hi Tumra, Mate we had two rods a piece. I love fishing with half pillies, my mate fishes with small cubes. He was nailing the fish and I was getting nothing whereas usually my half pillies normally go ok especially on the blue nose breams, so I decided to change over to his method. Make sure you present your bait in all different ways as it is amazing how fish will eat bait differently from day to day whether it be squid bait, pillies etc etc. Hope this tip helps you out on the next trip. Good luck and maybe see you in the Hacking. pongrass18ft
  21. Hi fishraiders, Took the tinny out for a lazy Sunday afternoon spin to Port Hacking after my mate called to go for a fish as he hasn't been out for a few months. The water was calm so decided to head out to Yowie Bay, burleyed up and it was on. Plenty of Trevally and Snapper to keep us busy for a couple of hours, managing three keepers for the session along with one good strike giving head shakes turning out to be an absolute monster eel Laughing at my mate who is an eel king, one of my rods goes off, being heavy in weight I was leaning more toward a monster flathead and drooling as I love to eat flathead, turns out to be a ray Before heading for home my mate had to do it again.....another eel He is a definate eel king if anyone needs lessons on catching eels. All up we shared an excellent afternoon and some nice fish for dinner and the tinny ran well as it hasn't been started in months Pongrass18ft
  22. Hi Yusuf Firstly, you are all safe. That's the main priority. As the other fishraiders have mentioned safety on the water comes first. Excellent to see that you had help at least as I'm sure anyone would come and help in that situation. We never stop learning from our mistakes or from knowledge of other people. You surely found the fish though. Good luck and stay safe on the water. Pongrass18ft
  23. Congrats on your catch. Spencer to Wiseman's is a lovely part of the Hawkesbury river.....fished it many times. It's where I actually caught my first jewfish followed by many more. Spencer boat ramp sure is tiny thought isn't it. What is your biggest Jewfish up that way? Good luck on your next trip. Pongrass18ft
  24. Top effort guys. You gotta be in it to win it. Port Jackson's at 10kg.....I bet they were fun to pull in at the beach. pongrass18ft
  25. Hi fishraiders, Biggest catch of my life turned out not to be a fish Couple of mates and myself were trolling out of Sydney Heads a while back. Swell was up but we pushed on anyway. Watching the swell and not really wanting to be out there I left the guys to watch the rods. Now this is where it was funny.....approximately 6km's out I turn around and said "Trevor, we're on left corner" he's grabbed the rod and was winding in like it was a fish of a lifetime. Because of the high swell we couldn't see what was being reeled in. After a decent battle we landed a kayaker . All was sweet as we only hooked his Kayake with the lure and he apologised for going over my trolling lines. He wouldn't even let us take him back to shore. Not the monster fish we wanted but it makes you aware that anything can happen offshore. Hope to hear from other fishraiders any unusual catches they've had. pongrass18ft
