  1. Stop Raining!!!

  2. keep going mate. When fishing the beaches i would either use plastics ( 5-7 inch) or some poppers. you will then bring queenies and trevs into the equation too. Find an area with current and structure and have a go for barra there! ideally get on a boat and have a fish in the mangroved lined creeks!
  3. Thereare a few good size whiting atm which is surprising considering its winter!!!!! i must have a go for them! nice catch
  4. Nice mate, ive heard of some monster barra coming from those waters!
  5. WOAHHH!! Crackin jew mate!!! that things got a head big enough to swollow me whole!
  6. Ray or shovelnose i think, normally shovelnose go on powerful runs though!
  7. Nice mate, spent a long time flicking vibes and plastics around the bridge for only one hit which rapped me around a pylon and broke my 8lb braid!! could have been a jew!!
  8. Thanks mate, hopefully i'll get a few fish. I know the mangroves here hold plenty of bream! Tom
  9. Time is always a problem. if you ever get the chance then take it because Weipa would have to be my favourite fishing destination! Tom
  10. Okay, ill still head out if weather permits. Thanks for clearing that up mate
  11. Yeh mate, it does, its hard to know when the water is murky where the dropoffs are though. I'm targeting bream and flatties and maybe even a jew if im lucky! Do you think its still worth fishing upstream on the run out??
  12. Do it mate! Ive been to weipa and its great!!! Fish with a guide and its well worth the money!!! Try and get up there between Sep-October this year! The Barra should be well and truly active!
  13. Usually when i fish i don't wory too much about the tides. I plan to have a flick tomorrow upstream from a bridge. In theory you would think that its not very smart to fish the runout tide upstream. High tide coincides with when i plan to arrive there. If anyone could confirm if the run out tide is not ideal for fishing upstream that would be great!
  14. Good feed there! Going out for a flick today and hopefully can get onto a few fish like you did!
  15. Nice mate! they are quite elusive and persistence pays off!
  16. No mate, if i were you i would go to the surf beaches and gather some early in the morning and maybe get some cunjevoi too. The blackfish love this!
  17. Mate, im no expert but all of the jettie hold bream, flathead, whiting and balckfish. Berley and fish with prawns.
  18. Hey guys, managed to head out to balmoral today for a few hours before the weather hit. I fished with ganged pillies for a while only o have the pickers steal the bait. I tried to catch yakkas to not avail and then decided to use some little cubed bits of pillie. Straight away i bring in a 28cm tailor. Too small but a start. It then went quiet for a while until i had another crack at the yakkas. Burleyed hard with bread, oats, pillie and cat food. Soon after i caught a little specimen and popped him in the bucket for a while. Caught 3 more which were all stolen by a pesky bird next to the wharf. Cast the yakka out under a float and left it out for an hour or so. Meanwhile i still kept trying with the yakka rig and managed to hook a 26cm trevally. This bird was crazy, it went after my trevally when i threw him back and caught it only to funble the fish andit thankfully swam away Kept going with the yakka and something was scaring it. it was constently acting finnicky and the float went under for a second and then popped up. I picked up the rod and waited to see if it was still there but the bastard had gone with my yakka Packed up and headed for home afterwords. Others on the wharf also caught yakkas and tailor and bream. All undersize though. Good to see Balmooral has a few fish though. Can't wait to give it a go again soon! Tom
  19. Great fish mate, where abouts in the gulf were you?
  20. Hopefully getting out for a live baiting session tomorrow. Hopefully the weather gods are feeling generous to me!

  21. Mate, when there is dirty water you need to focus on the mouth of rivers, especially if there is a break wall or something near the mouth! Luring them is most popular with big hardbodies and plastics but i cant see why a livie wouldn't work either. Good luck
  22. Mate, i have heard of many great hairtail caught a Jerusalem Bay. Jewies arent a bad by catch though!
  23. One thing you need to know though is that it is very weedy here and you need to fish about 50 meters out at least inline with the pt and you should get a few flatties and other fish
  24. Try Jerusalem Bay in Cowan creek at night with pillies and you will have a great chance
