  1. Great catch mate! Wattamolla can be a great place to fish. Good to hear the snapper are running.
  2. Smelly and oily but excellent bait!
  3. Fantastic catch! Hopefully I'll be there Sunday night.
  4. That's what it's all about. Having fun with the kids. Can't wait for summer to take my youngest out.
  5. The best way to describe it is to have a look at google maps. You can see the track snake down to a clearing. Cross that clearing and continue near the south point of the bay and you will find a worn track that goes down to your left towards the water. There is a small climb of a few meters down with the aid of a cable that is there to the ledge. I normally take a rope to lower my gear if by myself. You should be protected by the southerlies but watch those northerly swells. Always be alert and look out for your safety. I haven't fished the ledge in a year but I have fished the entrance on my boat. There are some good sized flatheads there. Normally I fish a paternosta rig and pillies off the ledge. There are rocks close in and a sandy bottom further out. I've heard of jewies being caught early morning and late evening but the gates are closed. Once apon a time they used to be left open. I think I'm showing my age now. Hope this helps J
  6. Is it not raining down there? I must be on another planet. Everytime I mention the word fishing it rains! LOL Well done on your catch there mate. Massive cuttle fish.
  7. That's a great catch mate. I normaly fish the ledge when I go that is on the south side from where you were close to the rock that sticks out. There is a track that leads there and you need to climb a little. The current comes around and forms a nice eddy. J
  8. Great catch Dave! I'm trying to get my old man out but he's not game.
  9. First a Jewie and now a Flattie, soon he will be illuminating! Great catch mate!
  10. Great catch on the Gummy! My daughter is the same but we don't fish the hacking. The only place I know is Gunnammatta bay or offshore. I'm sure one of the other Raiders that fishes the area will help out. J
  11. Hey mate. The main thing is that you managed to get out for a fish. I got stuck with this rain. Too bad you lost that screaming run. Would have been great to see what it was.
  12. The day paid off in the end. Great catch!
  13. Great catch mate. As long as you're fishing and catching, that's what counts.
  14. Awesome catch mate. Well done!
  15. Mate WELL DONE! I'm just as exited as you are. Those hairies give you a shock the first time you see them don't they! They’re tasty too. You’re the second person I've heard of to land a kingie at night. That's absolutely amazing! I’ve got my two nights off work and thinking of going up if the rain is good to me. Did you launch at Apple tree in Bobbin head or somewhere else? Congrats
  16. Good fish mate, well done.
  17. I may move down to SA. Sounds great. I'm itching to go to Yalata some time in the future. Anyway, welcome Alby and JJ. Looking forward to reading your posts.
  18. Too right mate. The fish seem to know where all the snags are to bust you off. Who ever said fish are dumb creatures should reconsider their thoughts lol.
  19. Don't you hate it when that happens. Better luck next time mate. I've gone to circles and they've made a huge difference. A tighter drag and a hook up in the corner of the mouth, fantastic! Those sharks shouldn't stand a chance if you try them cause the leader should be away from their teeth. You could lighten your leader as well. Just remember not to strike and let the fish hook itself.
  20. Well done on your catch! I haven't been to the coxs in over 5 years, nor fished in fresh water in that time as well. I must plan a trip.
  21. Hey Dave. I've gone to the circles as well. Just need to remind myself not to strike when holding the rod, because I've been pulling the hooks out. Live and learn.
  22. Does not look good. Thanks Yowie Tuesday Pressure is 987
  23. That may be short lived if the NSW Gov. grants commercial fishing their licence back!
