  1. Hi Quintrex480

Some nice echos on the sounder. definitly kings.

Pity about the jackets. They dont give you a chance. We got squid and yakkas no problems as well on sat, headed out to the peak. some good arces on the sounder to but as soon as you drop the livebait down it raveged by jackets!

hey Bluefin, you don't know how glad I am to hear that I am not the only one that is suffering from jacket-ni-tis!! hehehe I was starting to think that someone had attached a jacket magnet to the bottom of me boat!! :D

  2. dont worry mate... the squid are in plague proportions atm... cockroach of the sea!!

the only place I throw them is in the frypan or down the throat of Jewfish ! hahahah !!!

Yup - DRed Molli for nothing... schools of leatherjackets near the point.

    See you out there soon

yeah the squid have definitely been a lot easier to get lately. yes those jackets have been absolutely everywhere! inside and out!

what do you do with the frigates? any good eating?

  3. sorry I didn't see this report before I commented on the other one, looks like you didn't throw any squid back ahahha I got them all myself! and sheesh look at the size of those monsters!!!

too bad on the kings, did you give molli a go? I am still waiting for the place to fire up like the last couple of years!

  4. Hey buddy great effort! Wher a outs in the bay did u get the yakkas and squid?

    pm sent

Where abouts did ya get the squid mate, bare island? Aslo were you drifting or casting? Gonna have a crack tomorrow

    pm sent as well

    Nice looking squid.

Im looking to get out tomorrow afternoon. Might skip squid and yakkas and throw some sluggos around, I'll let you know if that wakes them up.

yes, definitely give them sluggos a go! I would have done the same but didn't have them on me.

    Good effort mate.

I Went out on Thursday morning sounded nothing. Caught several throw backs, Went out off Bondi, the sounder looked like the Sahara.

Returned under Capt. Cooks bridge and caught 1 BIG BREAM!

    Go figure

No yakkas :mad3: No Squid. :mad3: 1 Bream :sun:

Always next time I suppose :chair:

hey mate! too bad about Thursday and yes there is always next time.

    nice work there

should have scooped those squid coming through the channel too at windang

    saw a few

wow! squid pass through as well? I need to keep a better look out next time I am down there.

Dam leather Jackets, they are the size of a yakka and they eat and school up like a PIHRANA. Lower a bait down first and slowley wind it up to check if the jackets are under you. The squid are on the chew with the sephia in pure white being my favorite at the moment.

oh man! I got a diver mate who tells me he never ever sees anything take a jacket. No wonder why there are so many of them! as for a pihrana like behaviour, we put down a decent size yakka, brought it up a couple of minutes later, and I swear you not, all that came up was the skull and the back bone. Every little bit of flesh was eaten!!! couldn't believe it.

  5. Haven't been out to the bay for a while and hoping the time away has allowed the big kings to show up. Got onto the water at 9:30, first stop, yakka's, got a tank full in no time.

Second stop squid grounds, but decided to sound out channel markers on the way, and I am pretty sure they were kings (some fairly big ones as well, picture attached), so put down a yakka but no interest was taken, if only I had some squid!!!!

So off to get some, which was almost as easy as scoopong up prawns from windang got a tank full in 30 mins, enough for kings and a feed, so I left them biting :D .

2.5g Yamashita in orange and just some advice to anyone who wants to take it. The base colour of the jig is paramount when squidding. I had 2 rods out, both with 2.5g orange, but one was rainbow base and the other was gold. The gold didn't even get a touch, whilst the poor rainbow base ended up like it's been on the battlefield. So the tip here is, have a range of jig colours but also have them in different bases as well.

Off to DR some of these squid for kings, some really good showings but the squid kept on getting smashed by pickers (later found out to be jackets!!! :ranting2: :ranting2: ). I am fairly sure if the squid could stay on the hook long enough, the kings would have a chance. Did manage to get 2 rats though, left enough squid to make rings for the kids.

    Water temp 22.

  6. Great session guys, the lake is firing.

Very nice feed coming up.Have you ever used live prawn in BB as your bait???

    Chris.

Love them whitings ! The olds love them! they been complaining that I haven't been targeting them lately so they were quite pleased when I got them a few. Saved some prawns for the next session in the bay so see how I go with them.

You've gotta take me along so I can learn how to catch prawns!

Nothing to prawning mate, get a decent light and net, stand in the water and scoop them up as they flow past. Although I made the job a little easier as I was in the kayak using the electric, just motored around and scooped them up. If only squidding was just as easy! Lol

    nice work

There were heaps of blue swimmers on friday night too

Yeah, there were heaps of swimmers coming past but were all undersize, think all the boats up the lake had already taken all the big ones. How did u go on Friday night?

Nice catch. I would have cancelled my fishing trip and cooked those prawns :mfr_lol:

Drove over Windang bridge a few weeks ago and had a quick stop off. Plenty of people fishing along the shoreline. Might have to give it a hit one day and see how my SP goes

We had plenty of bigs ones, just chuck them into some noodles! Yum!!

Yes, it does get pretty packed so get there early and bag a spot.

Very good effort. Whitings are awsome.Taste unreal . Your efforts inspired me to go last night and even with your intel and your caught prawn, We only managed a whiting and a flathead and a few bust offs when lifting flatties up to the bridge.

It is pretty crowded on the bridge and plenty of snags. Maybe bring the boat next time.

Too bad buddy, at least u got a feed. Like targeting kingies, effort needs to be put in to getting the 'candy'. And if the whiting and flatties are on the bite, you'll smash them. There were about 3 other groups fishing along side us but we were the only ones pulling in fish. Servo prawns or local fresh ones? Hmmmmm...

Yeah buddy, 2 boat convoy to the dang, next trip!

  7. Hi Raiders, haven't been to down to the dang for a while and a mate has been smashing the whiting and flatties and gave me the call up to join him and a couple of other mates on Friday night. Got the approval from the wife and headed down, first up was to get whiting candy (local prawns) and when they're running, it's like taking candy off a kid. Too easy! and was awesome fun!

Saved the big ones to eat and used the rest for bait. Spent the the next couple of hours bringing in some nice whiting and flatties. It was a nice change from the usual downrigging for kings and I almost forgot how relaxing LB fishing was.

  8. Hey mate, well done! That's an awesome looking dollie. A fish I still have yet to add to my list, maybe this summer.

See you out on the water, and don't worry, I still remember that I still owe you a squid. Hehehe
