  1. Hey mate, I've got a poly 445. 4.45 meters it's pretty solid. I was drifting a big slimey near some structure. I recon slow trolling big slimeys would be lethal though.
  2. Congratulations!! its an awesome achievement to do it on your own. I bet the cheers and high fives were heard in Sydney.
  3. yes dredog, it was awesome deckmanship. i'm finally going to invest in a gaff! yep, we finally found a decent bull, best season for dollies in years! There were tonnes out there mostly keepers too. The poly went great, and the new radio is a definite confidence builder. ended up in a circling standoff for a while like your marlin last year as we tired it out to lift into the boat. It was on the salina 10000 tcurve combo aswell. Awesome!
  4. not sure yet? will let you know... worth a try the flesh looked like kingie. we took goo care of it. Dredogs going to smoke some up too.
  5. yeah, im using them as livies next time. easier to collect.
  6. Headed out of sydney harbour first thing this morning in the poly in search of a feed of Dollies. After getting a full daisy chain of slimeys we made our way out and werent disappointed. first cast dredog is on to a rat dollie on the silly string while i hook up to a bull on a livey. fearing some boat driving was needed i was happy when dredog popped his fish and helped me land my pb dollie. all the better in my little boat. It went 125cm and 25lb. it was full off baby jackets when we did the autopsy. Dredog managed another sydney first for us, a nice rainbow runner which complemented the bag of about 6 dollies plus many more released. no luck on the Marlin front, but dollies aplenty. we both went home with plenty of feeds. still need to buy a gaff. tight lines
  7. Nice haul! My favourite eating fish! Big hopes for that spot this summer!
  8. they are pretty much the same reel. the rarenium comes with a spare spool though. you can use the spools on both stradics and rarenium. go the rarenium. i have both
  9. That's awesome! Would have gone like a rocket! We got a similar sized one off Sydney heads at the start of summer on the troll but pittwaters hilarious! The bitten slimies may have been sharks too as we have caught them down rigging slimies, and had a few bitten in half on the same session. Plenty of bronzies turn up at this time of year.
  10. What a welcome surprise! My mate got a nice one downrigging one day too.
  11. Nice one mate. I can wait to target some flatties in that system. Don't forget to send me a link to that other place you found. That bottom pic of the trev is awesome! Looks like fun.
  12. Hey mate, looks great. you might want to attach some rod laynards to use with those holders. Ive had some of those holders corrode and snap (if they are the same alluminium ones). A king could apply enough pressure. depends on what fish your targeting.
  13. with the whiting, i dont strike when using circles. i watch the tell tale i put on my line then slowly apply pressure till i come up tight. that way the fish has more time to swallow the bait. using soft baits like nippers and worms, a half hitch over the bait and shank of the hook can improve the presentation.
  14. I took my Girlfriends nice fishing combo (that i bought her for her birthday) for a quick walk this morning while she was at work. Managed a nice feed to keep her happy. I've been using black magic kl 1/0 circle hooks recently as i was sick of gut hooking fish and re rigging. They work a treat. Dinners sorted! She cant be too annoyed at missing out, She nailed this nice 80cm King the other Sunday after persisting and keeping away from the weekend Floatillas. It went like a rocket and made the reel scream like mad before she landed it. She was very happy indeed upping her PB. There are fish out there to be caught... I have been trying for my first marlin... I've had the hits, but they haven't stuck! plenty of small Dollies as By-catch and erroll even managed this Sydney Rat Fin - Not bad for Summer! tight lines!
  15. If you want to easily grab a still photo from your gopro a quick way is to make the video full screen on your computer then pause it at the photo you want then. Use the screen grab function on your computer. On a mac it's something like command-shift-3 ( easy to search on google)
  16. I'm with Errol! Downrig the Bonnie's around the sisters!
  17. 1) yes, to 60meters. they have the flat faced housing for better underwater focus. 2) best to get a battery pack and additional batteries 3)flat on housing 4)depends on what kit you get ie, surfing or biking, chest harness etc. the bike mount kit is best as you can mount them everywhere 5)yes 6)yes 7) suction mount, handle bar mounts. also turn off the bluetooth/wireless as it drains the battery. the bluetooth does not work underwater.
  18. Nice result. Good thing you didn't have a flattie flick on your way back in, you probably would have landed a meter fish!
  19. It's great down there. I have done well on whiting etc of hams beach see previous posts and also there are good numbers of flat ties in the river near the pub. Some monsters too
  20. Both reels are great. I have owned all the models of stradic up to rarenium and they are awesome. The Salina 3 I have for casting now in the 10000 size and is way better than my saltiist 6500. It's my go to reel for kings. Not much can get past it. Choose for weight and line class. Stradic so for finesse. Salinas for grunt.
