  1. There were some salmon taken on pilchardsbut they were not interested in any thing artificial. Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
  2. Conditions were good, the wife and child had dinner plans so I had the evening free for quick spin session. Down to hill 60 I went hoping that the bonito had finally come in. No luck. 7 o'clock rolls around with nothing taking the lures so I switch over to my 20 year old faithful yo-Zuri squid to catch me a feed. 30 mins go by suddenly the line goes taunt, I'm on I thought but to my dismay the fight was not the usual jet propulsion you get with a squid. The lure comes to the surface with a slimey green beast in tow. A few head shakes and the 50cm mackerel shoots back into the deep. Next thing you know more of the pest show up so I move over to the squid grounds to the left which had become vacant as people moved to play with the mackerels. One cast, two cast, and all I get were knocks by the slimeys. Almost ready to throw in the towel I cast 1 more time and let the jig sit on the bottom as I watch the frenzy of yellow tails and mackerels, with two quick jerks of the rod to get the prawn going I slowly retrieve the lure and bam the drag kicks in and the rod bends two minutes later up came dinner. Sitting pretty next to my size 8 boots. Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
  3. Car was booked in for a service down in Albion Park so dropped her off and walked up to the creek nearby. Found a nice spot under the train bridge and threw in a fatdog shallow diver and was instantly smashed and then spat before I even cranked. Things looked promising but alas the initial take was probably then only thing that would have been worth taking a photo of. Plenty of 10-15cm breams afterwards though. A local walked by with a rod and I sparked up a convoy, looks like if I walked further inland the creek has a weir and he has been catching bass and ep's in there. The phone rang and the car was ready, I'll be booking a service down here again next time Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
  4. Some people like them some don't, snap swivels are a taste usage. I use them for the kids aka adult friends who do not know how to fish. I pre rig a bunch of rigs with smaller line than the main so when they snag and snap the swivel usually remains in tack so I can just swap the busted rig with a new one hassle free. Also makes switching lures (the cheap ones for the "kids") a breeze and they usually do it themselves. Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
  5. 4000 is plenty of grunt for your target fish.
  6. Myself, 1 Rod 2-5kg 1 Reel 2500 size 1 Jar of Plastics 1 Tackle Tray with jigheads and lures. So i am set up for any occasion be it estuary flicking soft plastics or off the rocks spinning. I guess you can add a few sinkers/swivels/hooks for bait fishing but when you are driving along and need to do a "Stop Drive Revive" bait is the last thing i want to worry about. Nothing beats stretching the legs after a few hours behind the wheel and a unexplored fishing hole/creek/stream/bay/beach/ledge/farm.
  7. Meadowbank Ferry Wharf has alot of people traffic during the weeknights and the wharf further down has alot of people flow with people taking walks or jogging or walking their dogs. The new Rhodes Wharf has people fishing from it regularly. If ya need company in these places i can join ya for a few hours if ya need. PM me if ya need mah number. Trung
  8. If you have access to fast broadband, ditch the tv stick and just stream love tv. Plenty of sites out there that allow you to do so. If you are going the way of the stick, make sure you plug your main antenna into it and tune all the channels in before using the flimsy provided antenna. Reception wise it will depend on your location/situation. They don't perform that well but since you are using it with a laptop you'll at least be able to move about to find a hotspot. 9. Should pack your rods and trek up to pier one and give it a go, much better than sitting in the room watching boring TV
  10. Here's the link for the invite for anyone else interested. https://www.google.com.au/help/maps/helloworld/desktop/preview/
  11. Google maps and earth are going through an update, the beta version is invite only to use and the 3d scaling of landmarks and buildings are amazing. If you have a google account try to get an invite to check it out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Don't forget there is a chance for monetary reward "If you report illegal activity involving the take of abalone, rock lobster or the harming of marine vegetation you may be entitled to a monetary reward."
  13. Crime Stoppers for the major issues. Fishers Watch for fish related issues (1800 043 536)
  14. Main reason why i switched to plastics. Bait works out too expensive nowadays. You go catch it yourself (time expense) Buy it at the shop (monetary expense) Buy plastics which will last you more than 1 session
  15. LOL I look forward to the banter. Friendships are usually started off in a similar fashion. Be it on the forums with light jeers or on the field with "My fish is bigger than yours".
  16. Would you really want to strap your waste in when you go overboard? I know we fishos preach "Clean up after yourself" But giving it life saving straps is kind of extreme I'd like a PDF that breathes and has a neck support function that auto inflates when it hits water. We don't usually fall overboard and of the small percentage that do there is a small chance that it has something to do with things gone wrong. If i'm unconscious i'd like to know the vest is keeping my face out of water
  17. I've been looking at those little 3 foot bait catching ugly sticks also!! I'm hoping i can strap one to the bubs when it is 3 moths old and see if a yakka or the bubs wins in a tug of war Grats to you and your wife for the new addition in August. As for light rain......you pull a fish out of water so it will thank you for keeping it wet as you give it a dental check
  18. I use Circle on both I don't really keep fish for eating and circles are so much easier to remove. But yeah circle on bottom and J up top, great rig as it lets me switch between pillies to garfish to yakkas by just adjusting the top hook and i can draw in the slack between hooks when i mis judge where i hook the bait at night.
  19. I use a similar method to boatart. Here's a Vid of the one i use. http://www.fishingknotsandrigs.com/geoff-wilsons-knots-rigs/how-to-tie-an-adjustable-two-hook-rig But i thread a lumo/glow in the dark tube 5cm or so onto the end line that then gets tied to the last hook. Gives the bait a glowing spine line and the Tailors have not busted me off yet. Have not tried it on Hairtails but should work the same.
  20. Ahh i made the same mistake and took the 6 year old godson fishing, he bagged out on whiting which then caused the chain reaction. Now when i go to visit, his dad gets him to ask me to take him fishing. Who then tags along for the ride, which in turns causes the mum to come along with the 4 year old goddaughter and i am usually stuck rigging/baiting and de-hooking when the girls pull in fish. I don't visit on fish perfect conditions anymore 6 more weeks and i'll have my own mini me, do they design tackle for toddlers?
  21. The Boat Ramp still producing Squid? Haven't fished Bellambi in years!! Ex-GF lives in the houso commisions just at the entry to the ramp and we ended on bad terms, If she sees the Car there i am 100% positive it'll be burnt to a crisp
  22. Tailors, Trevally's and Hairtails....why wouldn't you? Ohh forgot the Blue nose Breams......and Flatties
  23. Flatties, Tailor, Salmon..........Pillies will be sufficient or strips if you have those. As for your float rig, This is what i use when fishing off the rocks for KingFish. For Pillies i change the ballon to a float and stopper and the single hook to either ganged hooks or a two hook rig. Thought a picture would be easier to.......picture
  24. The ci4 and raider soft plastic rod have been bought and now in hiding. Now to get the braid 4lb should be sufficient. Got BCF to price match an online fishing store which saved me 140 bucks! Was surprised they would even match prices Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
