  1. Thanks guys, I've decided to go with the Ci4 1000 as i have a stradic 2500FJ and if i got the 2500 for her i'd prob end up borrowing it Pairing it with the Raider to give her the assistance in casting landbased and if she starts outfishing me it'll be easier to break and won't be too hard on the pocket like the black label is Cheers Trung
  2. Heh taking the wife into a tackle store where there are hundreds of rods and reels to choose from...one hell i will like to avoid
  3. Hi Guys and Gals, Looking to get the wife a push present and have been looking at the following. Daiwa Freams 2000 paired with either a DAIWA GENERATION BLACK ITCHY TWITCHY II 6102LFS SPIN ROD or DAIWA BLACK LABEL VERSATILE 762MLFS SPIN ROD Shimano Ci4 1000 paired with either a SHIMANO T SERIES T CURVE SPIN 662 XL ROD or SHIMANO RAIDER II SERIES MF SOFT PLASTICS BREAM FINESSE 732 SPIN ROD She has been following me about watching me flick the plastics and wants to join in. She currently sports a Shimano Stradic Ci4 4000 which she uses to chase pelagics and loves it so i'm leaning towards the 1000 model. What do you peeps reckon would be the best choice? Thanks Trung
  4. I wouldn't fork out the cash for that one.....hasn't been updated since last year so the tidal chart will be wrong. Used it for a bit when i got the wife's iPhone (Jailbroken so i can test apps before i buy) and it was pretty bleh. Ended up buying an app called fishing deluxe plus which is basically the same as the Hooked on but is updated regularly and is only a fraction the cost.
  5. Naw it's definately a yellowfin stinky Pike Naw long tom's have an alligator type snout Yellowfin Pike good for Thai fishcakes, but i throw them back because i can't deal with the smell and slime....heck i throw anything back that requires too much work to prepare....that means all fish
  6. Carp, the bane of Australian fisheries. Sergeant Baker, too boney to bother with. Dirty sweep, good eating fish if you are bothered enough to prepare it, but personally I throw back, buggers grunt too much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Yeah yeah, NotGotAny Bay lives up to it's name. Make sure you tell that to your mates down in Vic when you send them pics of the NotCaughtHere fish. Also SeenAny Harbour is only good for sight seeing so the pics you send should only have the Touros (all types from Leather Jacket wearers to the typical John Dory) posing in there usual photo pose.
  8. If you are float fishing the sinker is best used above the swivel that you are using to attach the leader to the main line, it sits after the swivel under the float. This gives the bait more freedom to jerk about with the swell/wash which entices a take and when they do take there is a little give for the fish to mouth the bait before the float puts on tension. Leader can be any length you desire, but the common length is roughly 1 meter. Float stop once again is up to you but the common length is 1 meter. Sinker on the hook is usually done when bottom bashing and you don't want to mess about with rigging
  9. I was asked this by my 6 year old nephew the other day so had to come up with something that was borderline truth. So here was my reply. Well, There is this stork that your father is able to hire that will go seek out a few eggs. That stork sometimes does not do it’s job properly so has to be employed over and over again on certain days of the month. Sometimes the stork is lazy and won’t work but there are ways to entice it to work with an oral presentation. It has to be a good presentation with visual aids and a warm apple pie to seal the deal. It will then deliver the eggs to your mother who will incubate it for 9 months. During this time your father will employ the stork to check on the eggs but your mother may or may not let the stork near it for fear of damage. After nine months your mother will have to go to the hospital to release the egg and out of the egg will hatch the new baby. Your father may try to hire the stork again straight after but because your mother is tired it will just play by itself until it is time for a new egg to be found. Now i am not to sure how much the kid will learn from that but i am sure that this was the best possible solution to a tricky question which should be the responsibility of the parent to explain. To My Bro-inlaw, stop watching PORN! Your kid is getting curious!!
  10. Twitch upwards or downwards? Do you pause in between and let the lure settle or do you keep winding? Try the different methods posted so far and you'll hit a squid eventually, if they are there Glow sticks are an expensive attractant (single usage, or double if you freeze it after the first use), i prefer to leave them as my night time float fishing visual aid. Pick up some glow beads which you can re-charge by leaving in the sun or with a UV torch, or get squid jig that has a glow body. As for brand name lures, they work well. But there are times when the 20 cent bought in Vietnam on the spur of the moment squid jig will out perform the commercial grade Yo-zuri or Yamashitas In Japan the 100 Yen squid Jig is the go to lure for most anglers, cheap, works, and you don't get the Ohh Fook feeling when the line goes *ping*
  11. If you saw some carp it means there are a bazillion in there....bloody pests
  12. How fast are you winding in? What type of jigs are you performing? My style is lowered rod tip then short sharp jerks upwards, wind in slack and let the lure fall, let rest for a 5-10 or so and repeat. If that fails i do an ultra slow retrieve with sideways jigging, and if that fails i do a bottom to parallel to 60 degree slow lift retrieve/drop. If all that fails i grab my spiked Yakka, put it under a float (3-5 meters) and go to sleep.

  14. Fish with a yellow belly, pointy face, may have been a perch, 20cm long or so, not to familiar with fresh water fish. Fished at the car park area, rock platform with a few snags just in front. I'll give it another go, gotta find a carp area where the kids and wives can have a picnic and lake parramatta is a swell place to chill. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Thought I'd give it a go today after dropping if the wife at work. Had the corn out and the bread. Caught some kind of fish with a yellow belly but the carp I was after was a no show. Has anyone been there lately and caught carp? Also saw some type of fish break water that had a big tail fin. 2.5 hours for a few yellow belly, time to head back to the salt. 16. Better chance trying to hire one off a fishraider for a trial session
  17. Skin it, and use it in a curry. Otherwise a fish stew. Or smoke it, but be warned, smoking causes lung disease
  18. Them Jumping Fat Logs in Chicken Bay are over stuffed Mullets
  19. I've been using Fishing Delux, has the usual best time to fish thing, moon phase, sun and moon rise/set times, tides, flashlight, diary, calender that shows good days to fish and weather. These APPS are more of a novelty than anything else but it's nice to have the tides and moon phases in a single press.
  20. Good intentions, but i am seeing a Today Tonight or A Current Affair story for something similar in the near future. Pray it does not happen. Dis-Honest person posing as a assets valuer with fake I.D. goes to peeps homes and susses out the valuables....and you know the rest.
  21. Try scoring the squid before cutting into pieces, that way it opens up more crevices for the salt and pepper to penetrate Ohh and have you tried lemon and butter over a squid under a grill? Great Beer partner
  22. Or tie on a metal spinner and you'll have a blast with them little choppers. Great fun and if you are lucky you might score a 30 plus model to take home and smoke.
  23. This has got to be the best weather prediction method known to man. http://www.wikihow.com/Measure-Windspeed-and-Direction-by-Licking-Your-Finger I use it all the time and it has not failed me.
  24. I use the juice bottles and it's never let me down. If they ain't getting trapped in yours try adding a longer tunnel. Or use a clear tube. Now i am not saying you should do this and i don't think you are able to anymore, but back in my younger days the shopping trolleys had a plastic tube that covered the handles. They were great Poddy traps. cork up one side and stuff it with bread, place it at your poddy mullet area and watch as they squeeze in and get stuck, poor little critters don't know how to swim backwards But back to the Juice bottle, grab a second bottle and cut out the big flat panel. Roll it into a tube to match the size of the mouth piece, staple it or glue it together and then attach it to your juice bottle trap with glue or sealy sealant. It should go in 3/4 down the bottle and looks like bottle with a giant straw in it. Place it in your area and burley lightly to attract them. They should swim in and get trapped or get wedged in like sardines
  25. Damn that's a trip and a bit you do to get to a fishing spot
