  1. Thats the lateset dolly off Sydney i have heard of and nice size too When you say the long reef channel do you mean the wall? Cheers Paul
  2. Yup no stopping or drifting in the deepest part of the harbour.
  3. Well done on the legals, only rats for us couldnt stop the others in 10m. Fly fisho at the ramp tipped us off about longy going off at sunrise but we didn't get there till 1030 and shutdown by 11. 30 mins of the hottest king bite i have ever seen! Wish we had listened and got there earlier. That commercial boat was mental and the fly fishos were cleaning up too!
  4. King is a king mate! And a rat on 3lb must be equal to a hoody on 30lb?
  5. Woo! Hooked for life now, you have the kingy addiction! Its like heroin but much more addictive and expensive lol
  6. Hi folks Long shot but does anyone know which servo sells valvoline tcw3 2 stroke oil? Planning an early trip and only servos will be open. Google search returned nothing. Cheers Paul
  7. Hi folks Like most ill be heading to the peak this weekend. I know its not ideal but how far would it be from sydney heads? Botany is an away game for me and would prefer to launch locally Cheers Paul
  8. Yes i think it is the trailing hook, i slowed to 4 knots on sat and same issue. Stock trebles were fine to 9 knots. Can you run the rear hook that size facing down? This i haven't tried.
  9. I have these exact hooks on my small xraps and they dont swim the same as the standard trebles, keep popping up to surface even 60m behind the boat. Standard trebles even in close no diving problems with lure. Interested to see how you go.
  10. Hmmm for trolling or casting?
  11. Well...... Ill tell anyone that listens, Shimano all day! I used to be a massive purchaser and advocate of Okuma from Trio to the V system. Great when new but would always stiffen up and require maintenance. Mate put me onto a Symetre and i never looked back. Im that guy that treats his tackle hard, used weekly, never serviced and i swear none of my Shimnanos have EVER missed a beat. I smash my 4000 reels on kings and dollies all season and they love it. Its a cliche but the stradic is hard to beat, for 4000 and under go the symetre. Hope this helps. Cheers Paul
  12. Im confused, should the rear J hook face upwards or downwards? Recently put J's on my faithful xraps and they are not swimming the same, keep breaching the surface and its doing my head in.
  13. We going wide sat, few sporadic YFT around so will try and snag one around the shelf. Hopefully some bulls left too.
  14. Ok i must be in the right spot, i used to downrig that drop off parallel to the cliffs but never had much luck although i did get smoked once or twice. Let us know how you go ballbags lol
  15. Yeah wind gonna be ugly tomorrow, stay safe! How far out from the 'hat' should you fish this area and in what depth? Never caught a king there, had much more luck over the south side. Cheers Paul
  16. Yup Linc said it, each day and situation is unique. Thats why the theory is so much more important them the specifix detail such as spot x. Once you have a sound theory you can apply to the specific scenario. Make sense? Or too complex?
  17. How about you show us how its done scarab? Lead by example....
  18. Thats a great pic, if only more of those 'red fish' were eaten. They always pop up when i really want yakkas!
  19. Hahahah so true, funniest thing is when you have caught nothing you HAVE to stay longer for that one fish. Alternatively When the fish are on you CANNOT leave the fish as its just too good! As i explain to my wife, i could be addicted to booze, drugs or gambling so fishing ain't so bad... And my booze addiction is only mild.
  20. Bloody hell thats a stonker! You got the one ive been targeting all season, well done.
  21. Crap, the temps are falling!
  22. No need to sit on the fad, burley up within 100m and they should school up hard. Few kings there too on Friday.
