Mmm stradic is nice of you can stretch it. I bought a 6000 and absolutely love it. I really think they are worth the extra cash, especially if you get a lot of use like me.

Totally agree. I have two symetre's 2500 and 4000 with suitable trion rods on 6lb and 15lb braid and they are fantastic even stopped a few kings on the 4000.
  7. Lol was no further than 5 metres i reckon! Were you next to the charter boat? Was gonna scoot on over but thought a bit rude. What depth were you in?
  8. Bloke in tinny could have been me. I had reeled in my one and only fish, a nice mowie and had a massive boat full of people watching me. I turned around and a hump back broached like 5 metres from me! Was just off bondi.
  9. Nice catch. I lost all my gear to jackets yesterday, so you did well to get a feed. I tried every ten metre line till i reached the fad and they were there too!
  10. Pretty sure they are all two years
  11. Oh if you buy an EPIRB get the GPS one made by KTI on ebay. Its the cheapest, has the best specs and is aussie made too.
  12. Flares are needed past the open water line, you need to confirm where that is in your area I know on the harbour it is BEFORE the heads. I got done for out of date flares last week at longy, he advised there is ZERO tolerance from now on. I had every otjer piece of safety equipment and we both had jackets on. Flare kit was only 56 bucks and as above is a no brainer. EPIRB was expensive but essential too. Happy safe fishing!
  13. I had the same problem and had to lower the outboard one hole. Something about the cav plate lining up with the hull.
  14. Hooked two of those pesky birds at Boltons on sat
  15. Ok cheers guys, paternoster it is. Looking good for sat, gonna hit the BB reefs.
  16. I know with the flatties if your an inch off the bottom your not fishing. Is it as critical to be on the bottom for mowies, nannies etc? I would think a paternoster rig must look like crap floating mid water? Thanks
  17. Hi folks After years of fishing the estuary im finally able to head offshore. Im curious as to the technique to drift offshore reefs? Mainly in broken bay. I have had great success drifting paternoster rigs for offshore flatties but surely the same process will snag up on the reef? Cheers Paul
  18. Welcome to Sydney mate and its only the beginning!
  19. Hate to state the obvious but get a pro to check it over before hand. I didnt and discovered a gearbox full of water and cost me a full rebuild after oil pump failed two weeks after purchase. That was a great discussion with the wife....
  20. Just did this with faltty fillets and it was amaze balls!
  21. 95 jackets lol. I have only started offshore reef fishing and discovered the high tackle consumption, sure am catching a lot more fish though! Sorry for hijack OP.

    Nannygai

Oh yeah that sounds good. Not confident filleting it as its fairly small but will test out on my flatty fillets and report back. Cheers Paul
  23. We bagged out on flatties off bondi, the small ones were coming up with only a head left after the jackets saw to them! Aggressive buggers followed the fish up from 40m and we scooped a few whoppers up in the net.
