  1. I have a set of two dollar pliers i drown in WD40 when i wash the boat an no issue. Keep your money for tackle!
  2. Sure was a nice day to be out. Did you see the acres of salmon busting up at bluefish point? We also caught a heap of flatties with bigger eyes and bloody sharp teeth, Wont be thumb gripping them again soon! i assumed they were tigers?
  3. What size lead are tou using to hold bottom? Assuming your drifting?
  4. Can you please PM me pricing for the A77 and NSS7? 1099 is head unit ONLY for gen 1 HDS 7.
  5. That HDS 7 price is head unit only
  6. Woolies bridge is full of small bream at high tide and the odd horse. Pipeclay point is a very good flatty ground on a falling tide but only in summer.
  7. On paper the resolution specs are the same for HDS and Elite, but just cant help to think the HDS looks better. Is it just my perception after owning an HDS? Also will the slower processor affect sonar capability vs HDS? Im torn between HDS 7 and Elite an if its better to get the HDS and save for maps later? HDS 7 unit is on special for 1099! Cheers
  8. Good on you mate and just in time for summer run in. The complete fishing bible by legend Al Mc Glashan i a great read too. Best of luck!
  9. OP don't agonise over it, its a good price and does what you need so i would go for it. Warranty will cover any unlikely issues.
  10. D version is an official lemon, very high failure rate admitted by Shimano. Hence the OC update. B series was a classic and one of the toughest reels around forvthe money.
  11. Sounds like a good deal. I bought a similar combo 12 months ago but with the B series baitrunner and a shimano rod for 160. I sold the used reel last week for 150 and kept the rod, simply you cant go wrong with Shimano! P.S i sold it for a stradic as i never used the BR function and was terrible with braid, OC version is deigned for braid i think though?
  12. Hi folks Im in the market for a new sounder and interested If anyone has experience with Garmin and there blue maps? Particularly the echomap 70s looks very sweet, especially compared to the Elite 7 HDI for sameish money. Cheers Paul
  13. I have the same budget and am looking at the Lowrance elite 7 HDI and the Garmin echomap 70s. They both look good on paper but going to have a play on the weekend.
  14. Wow small world! I also have a lazeabout with a 1050 i use outside and in the harbour an it is a gem. Got it for 160 delivered and best bang for buck i have bought for the boat. I use an 8lb bomb that i got off gumtree and mounted it at the rear corner starboard side on a piece of cutting board. Only problem is stopping hoodies in 20m of water at north head! Hope this helps. Paul
  15. Plan B is sit around and drink whiskey all night!
  16. Yup we stayed all night at WB week after the social for one yakka! Year before we bagged out. Thats hairtailing.
