  1. i found this warning about cooks river using google. http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0003/333219/cooks-river-warning-sign.pdf
  2. Salmon n bonito r always fun to catch...its very addictive specially when u catch them on lure...they really fight hard specially d bonito...my mates became addicts when they start catching them...just like me...all we think about all the time is catching our next bonito/salmon...
  3. I read online that the cooks river is still polluted. I'm not sure if the fish caught off the breakwall r OK to eat. Can someone confirm this? Thanks
  4. Ty ibo...let u know how i go this weekend...
  5. Try the cooks river breakwall just before sunrise. you will catch a mixed bag there. trevs bream yakkas mullet kingys salmon tailor. use chicken bread prawn for bait. Use squid if u want a kingy. Pilchard for tailor salmon flathead. Berley with bread n use it to catch trev mullet yakkas. only problem is will u eat the fish u caught???
  6. Which side of the bridge? I tried the left side just before the bridge during winter but most fishos were catching blackfish. i tried the wharf on the left side after the bridge and caught plenty of undersize bream. i tried the beach on the north side but caught nothing due to the strong current. thanks for your help.
  7. I never caught a bonito during winter at either hill60 or bass pt. we go fishing all year round and we usually catch sambos and tailor on the rocks and beaches during winter. i heard you can catch bonito during winter when u r on a boat n go outside in d open seas.
  8. At hill60, from the carpark, climb down in front of the carpark then walk around to the left side until ypu reach the point/corner. just be very careful. the waves wil come up at high tide and when there is a big swell. go there during weekdays. Forget the weekends. The spot gets pretty busy and you will be fishing shoulder to shoulder with other fishos. i usually bring two rods. one for spinning one for bait. i always bring a block of pilchards for bait n use squid skirt on float for spinning.
  9. Goodluck this sat. im not sure if the bonito r still around. u probably catch salmon n kingy if u r lucky. the last time i heard someone caught a bonito was around anzac day. the last time i caught some bonito was around march. We always target salmon tailor jew this time of the yr off the beach using pilchards as bait.
  10. Just wanna know fishing spots at the entrance. Im taking the wife n kids this weekend. Thank u very much.
  11. I put a bead in front of the hook so the hook wont go thru the hole on d squid skirt...
  12. Squid skirt on float is probably d best n cheapest rig u can use when targeting pelagics eg bonito salmon kingys. A pack of 5 cost around $5 from a good tackle shop. We normally bagged out on the bonito n salmon using this type of rig at hill60 or bass pt during summer. My mate also caught a 90cm kingy at hill60 using this rig. Good luck. The rig consist of a large float big ball sinker 30lb 3m trace 2.5in squid skirt 2/0 hook.
  13. I use the alvey rod600 with my 600b and 650bcxl reel. I also got a Jarvis tailor taker which I use on the beach.
  14. Hi. we went down tunks park boat ramp last week and was told by the locals that the fish caught are no good to eat due to some type of contamination. can someone confirm this. thanks
  15. Try newport narrabeen up north...wanda garie stanwell down south...best time late afternoon from 4pm onwards...use pilchards for bait on a two hook or ganged hook rig with big star sinker..u can catch salmon tailor flathead and even a jew if u r lucky...goodluck...
  16. Try newport or narrabeen up north or wanda or garie down south. Use pilchard on a two hook rig with big star sinker. Rising tide with less than 1m swell. Try around 4pm onwards. I use 2x 2/0 octopus hook and 30lb trace with 20lb mainline with 10ft rod. i got alvey 650bcxl reel n 600 rod. Hope this helps n catch your 1st salmon. Plenty of salmon n tailor on the beaches atm.
  17. mate...we didnt get the exact length...around the 70cm mark...
  18. Nice 1 mate...Aussie salmon r always fun to catch off the beach...biggest one I saw was around 1 meter mark...

  20. I got a mms from my mate monday night. he went beach fishing down south from 6pm to 9pm. he managed to catch salmon tailor flathead on pilchards using a two hook rig. he got bitten off a dozen times but managed to land a 4kg tailor. its the biggest tailor i have seen. he was using a 40lb leader and two size 2/0 octopus hooks. The spot is pass the royal national park. sorry i cant say exactly where it is. ill upload the picture of the monster tailor as soon as i can download a copy to my pc.
  21. Mate Wanda is safe...plenty of surfers...go there early mornings...late afternoon...forget the weekends... Garie is safe too...not as busy...u need to pay a fee...its inside the royal national park... We usually catch salmon tailor on both beaches...sometimes flatty trev bream... Good luck...
