  1. It was pretty good really.. no cracks or tears and it hadn't gone all brittle nor gone real soft and certainly didnt look like giving up the ghost . The new one however did seem to show an improvement in water flow via the tell tail. My guess it was 4 years old at the least .
  2. Hmmm... ive had the boat a couple of years .. so I have no idea when it was done prior to me buying it... My bad !! I should have done it first thing for peace of mind . Sent from my GT-I9305T using Tapatalk
  3. Well I would have needed to wait a week for the workshop to fit me in so I just did it myself. Not knowing when it had last been done I was really worried about seized bolts or worse still a seiezed drive shaft but luckily the last person to have done it did a proper job and all bolts and splines were greased and came undone easily. Thanks for the advice and Hueys price was on the money as my local dealer estimated roughly the same .
  4. Awesome Huey that's exactly what I was after , I fully appreciate no job is always straight forward particularly with an older motor... but as u have answered it was a bottom line and it could be upwards from that. I just needed that info to make a call which way to go as im pushed for time and the boat isn't in a place I can have full access with tools and heat etc if the job doesnt go to plan. Thanks Mate
  5. Wow! Not one person here has ever paid to have an impeller replaced . I know every job can be different but I was just after a ball park for a straight forward job without any additional work , surely that isnt a ridiculous question to ask .
  6. My 50hp outboard has been triggering the temp alarm if Im sitting on low revs for to long . Firstly I changed the thermostat which was well and truly shot so I thought this would have solved my prob but im still getting high temps at low rpm. So I will replace the water pump now, but im not sure if I will bother doing it myself or pay someone at this stage. Can anyone provide me with an estimate cost of having this work done by a mechanic ? Ps. 1996 Mariner 2stroke if that helps any.
  7. Try a hair dryer to heat it first and then remove it and use eucalyptus oil to clean of any residue. If the heat fails just use the eucalyptus oil from the start by soaking the edges and working away at it .
  8. I think the main thing you have to consider is what fish you are after , you really need to target a species and take the boat to where they are likely to be. Seeing as you get bream around wharves and structures well thats where u need to use your boat as well. Try fishing in shallow bays around boat moorings or drifting or anchoring around the front of rock ledges or mangroves where the bream are feeding at high tide. Try drifting mud and sand flats for flathead and whiting or deep holes and drop offs for jew . Another tip is to just drift until you find some fish and then u can redrift or anchor at that spot. Sometimes because we have a boat we tend to drive of over fish to go miles away for no reason apart from just wanting to have a boat ride .
  9. Tie your boat to a wharf and fish there
  10. The other thing u have to consider is if u need to drop it for clearance for a carport , garage etc.

  12. That would just be the part number of the welsh plug id say. Keep looking for a plate attached somewhere.
  13. Its strange that dietary list doesnt even mention mulloway ?
  14. This may explain it better Sent from my GT-I9305T using Tapatalk
  15. I guess what you are saying is the 25mm hole is the fit the plug through ? Maybe make the hole and then cut an aluminum plate big enough to cover the hole . Cut a slot in the plate the same size as the cable an then recover the hole sliding the plate down onto the cable and sika and pop rivet the plate into place . Hope that made sense ?
  16. Perhaps these stickers could be given away when a certain post count or years membership is reached ? Just a suggestion
  17. How heavy was the biggest fish ?
  18. You could get a GoPro HD Hero3 5MP for 268 , comes with cover an mount and for $30 you can get an additional kit that has some etra mounts for different set ups.. $399 will get u a version up with the 12mega pixel camera with remote .
  19. Cool. Hope it all continues to run smoothly.
  20. Good to hear. With QBE do they have a seperate value on outboard and hull ? For instance my insurer has a value on each so if I destroyed the outboard on a log I would only get up to x value even if I could not find a replacement motor for that price. Guess I should over value it incase it did happen.
  21. Absolutely testlab , you cant beat a dual battery for the best possible setup . But a jump start unit are a good option for people who dont venture far or have a small boat setup or find it daunting to set up a dual system .
  22. Or as a cheap alternative buy a jump start unit you can take out with you or use it in the car when your not fishing.
  23. Yeah keep us posted how you go. On a side note if u make a boat claim does that affect any other policies when they ask if u have made a claim in the last x amount of years ?
  24. Dont anchor under tree's Paikea, you would be in danger of drop bears
  25. Yep.. Hair dryer works good on stickers so does eucalyptus oil to remove any residue. . Use both together and it will also help clear your sinuses
