  1. I have a few jobs on my outboard to do, Ive only attempted to undo one bolt and snapped off im dreading touching anymore Make sure when u put it back together Rod use Never Seize grease all all your threads
  2. Do they need to come to you? also what area are u in. I know of a place at Lidcombe , they could do the welding no prob but id say you would have to do all the design work as they arent really boat modders. The person im thinking of is a relo of a sponsor here.... Really decent bloke.
  3. You should add a roteserie motor as well to use it for rod building epoxy work. Just need to change the belt over when u use it.
  4. My money is on Salmon for sure, ive caught one @ 60 in the bay there at Rodd Point
  5. Nice work, and a great photo :-)

    Winter Rest Up

Just thinking a little more on the topic of greasing up the pump housing , ive come to the conclusion of zero grease regardless of type. My concern would be any sand that happens to be picked up while in shallow water would be trapped by the grease an cause premature wearing within the pump. Gaz
  7. Sydney Heads HMAS Darwin (FFG 04). A bit grainy but still a naval ship coming in through the heads isnt something people see everyday.
  8. Cattai Creek Harrington NSW a few minutes later .

    Upgrade time

Depends a LOT on where you are launching , if you drive the extra distance to middle harbour ramps you can avoid the bash through the harbour centre which is a pain for any size boat . my last boat was about the same as yours and id fish the North head area safely on good days id just drive closer to the area. You can also fish area's away from the middle of the harbour channel to avoid ferry and traffic wash , Sow an Pigs for instance hasnt fished any better for me than other parts of the harbour closer to shore, so look elsewhere in the same area.
  13. JUST DONT EVER BUY A GREAT WALL! !
  14. Replace the clutch? A rather expensive exercise id say. Id just by something suitable from the get go and save being stranded somewhere.
  15. And some ear plugs if u fish right near the bridge, you will not believe how loud and anoying the bridge traffic is. Talking of hot food, we use to buy hot pizza and wrap it up in foil and use one of them heat/cool 12volt eskies , there was something special about having somthing steaming hot on a cold night while no where near a shop lol. Maybe there is a market for marine delivered food.

    Winter Rest Up

Id check with the manufacturer in regards to adding any grease around the impeller. My concern would be a possible reaction with the rubber used in the impeller particulary using anything petroleum based. As for any other bolts and parts removed id recomend never seize grease This stuff is fantastic, even on hot exhaust and turbo unit bolts.
  17. A QUICK WARNING. A few weeks back i was approached by maritime inspectors just as i was about to tow my boat out from the water after winching it up. They were doing a random safety check of vessels and asked to see the following. * An oar * Life jackets for all on board + certification of age for inflatable type * A bucket . With a rope attached! !! * A waterproof torch . Yes even day time * Vessel max passenger sticker . The new green one ,not the yellow one. * A horn or whistle. I failed on a few like no rope on the bucket an old sticker and no waterproof torch, but as i was already on the trailer he gave just gave me a warning. I was unaware about some items needed so i thought id ensure others were aware. Gaz
  18. Make sure you also have a reasonable amount of anchor rope. The water in places can be up to about 20m deep. Sometimes thats all rope some people carry.

    New battery

Well technicaly they arent better , but i guess being bigger than what may be required they will still be effective in doing the job even when they may have deteriorated 10-20% in there performance. End of the day marine is better and is the way to go for bigger boats or boats with a high power demand while anchored but for a weekender a cheaper car battery would be fine and most likely still be a cheaper long term option even IF it does die a bit sooner.

    MULLOWAY

Yep some real good ones about , i caught a few over 40cm lately . Using descent sized mullet strips for bait . Nice Jew by the way .
  21. Well done. How many others catch Hairtail in the Harbour ? Its really strange why they are so prevelant in the Hawksbury let seem rare a stones throw south of there. In all the hours jew fishing in Syd ive never struck one .

    New battery

A car battery is a lot cheaper , with the change by a jumpstart unit as a backup for the boat an also can be used for the car.
  23. Hi Tackle, looks pretty good but how many $'s did u pay ? . Im sure everything with the boat will be fine but it would have been a better idea to post here and ask questions THEN buy later. Gaz
