  1. Ended up getting the tackleshop to price match against online, very happy now just need to get line for it, I want 50LB wa thinking maybe Fins braid in green? Or maybe powerpro super slick in marine blue, the fins I have on my sienna is pretty nice to fish with, both about the same price as well?

  2. I use a simpler, less appealing alternative. I have the bilge wiring rigged to a male cigarette adapter and clamp a female adapter to the battery. When in use I plug it in and pull it out to stop. All easily removable once finished.

We have the same setup, couldnt be bothered to mount a proper switch and waterproof it all properly and this works really well for us, easy to turn on and off. Mounting points on the battery are using clamps like jumper leads, have tested going over big waves ect so long as battery is secure and doesnt move then the clamps wont budge, we havent had the terminals come off once since I installed them and all is good! Obviously you can strip and attach the wires permanently to the fittings if you want it to be perfect, but this overall was a much cheaper solution as a waterproof switch was about $50

Also the best tank to use I found was a beer barrel bought it online off feebay for 35 bucks had a lid and inlet pipe already fitted, just drilled holes in the top of the tank for water to flow out

  3. fresh fish has got to be better than chemical chicken and fruit right?!

Not if the fruit has had chemicals used that the government has deemed to be safe for human consumption.

If your concerned about the fish then simple don't eat it. Bream carry higher levels of dioxins than any other fish according to tests when exposed to contaminated waters. I personally don't eat bream anymore. Do some searching for test levels for that area and see of you can find any results for other fish as well

  4. Yakkas and fresh squid don't bother buying it, probably won't get touched.

Soft plastics work pretty well out there, slick rigs, flick baits and shads have all gotten me good results.

Lightly weighted pillies will usually be smashed by a kingie too so don't just put em out on your light rod, the number of times I've been busted off on half a pillie on my light gear out there, starting to get over it haha

  5. HI Mate,

I dont berley bomb mate, I simply cube with a 1cm sized cube each miinute or so, and give the berley bucket and crush every 15 mins. The berley bucket oozes little bits all the time though consistantly. You will see snapper nearly on the surface sipping berley when they are really on!

The best snapper guys I know from the local fishing club $%^^%&$%^# smashes up STRIPED TUNA & SOLID BONITO FISH frames in the berley. This heavy mass of (predominantly) bone structure sinks past the sweep and moves off with the current.

The local club champ PETER RYAN has the club record of a 12kg snapper taken from very shallow water off sydney. His favourite snapper baits are STRIPED TUNA HEADS! And large BONITO HEADS!

    Butch

    Awesome stuff cheers mate!

  6. HI Mate,

Everything from pillchards, to chook pellets to fish bones and Carcasses from Sweep, pike, slimies, yakkas, sargaent bakers, bonito, Tuna etc.

Berley hard and the fish come!

    Butch

Mate you probably get asked more questions than any Raider on this site when you post a report!

Can you be more specific when you say "burley hard"

How big do you cut up the pieces, how frequently do you put out the burley and how much at a time. Do you use a burley bomb and drop it to the bottom to try get it away from the sweep?

  7. For sure the makeshift downrigger idea will work, but if your on your own and all hell breaks loose with a decent fish getting it out of the water can be a problem sometimes, especially in the yak. Just a though

It will definitely work the problem is bringing the "bomb" back up so your fish doesnt get tangled and then bust you off, just make sure you mount a GoPro & upload the footage for us all

  8. Hey Tom u have a sounder in the yak right? Just keep them a few mtrs off the bottom and slowly work a desired area

Also if its on the surface its more likely to get chomped up by a Tailor.

Tailor will usually sit up on the surface and kings and trevs sitting below those schools generally.

no no no wrote an article about it somewhere but Im not sure where it is and whether or not it was online but I think I saw it in a magazine. Have a dig see if you can find it, but yeah a few meters off the bottom is ideal, just not too close or the squid will kill your yakka

  9. Sometimes the bull sharks move in and if you end up hooking a jew they'll probably take it. They're usually under 5' that i have trouble with but i now for a fact that this time of year sees 10' sharks up there... Might be an idea to target them? Would be interesting!

    Cheers, Tom

Makes me wonder about the people who waterski and swim in the harbour up there, only a matter of time before one has a go at someone.

Clearly theres a reason for the net up the far end of the park for people to swim in haha.

Have you caught many bull sharks from the bridge area Tom?

  10. Yeah that's the Hobie livewell. Took a few goes to get it primed. After talking to a few people I should use a longer scupper tube. They get used alot in bream comps. There are cheaper alternatives...YouTube "pimp my pro angler."

Here's a photo with a bream in it.

Mate, I prefer keeping good company over good kayak models. You can have a go on it when we head out and I’ll trial your one. :)

I appreciate it mate, don't know if it's such a good idea tho I may end up with 3k less in my bank account in the weeks following haha !

Caught some good bream at little manly on the weekend and trevally, should be plenty of fish around when we head out

  11. Peter

The Revo needs to be in a group photo :biggrin2: . We'll line up something very shortly.

Looking forward to the next outing Alan :)

Paul is that the Live Bait tank you were telling me about? Looks awesome! The yaks I have arent as good as yours but good enough to do that job at hand! Those look amazing though mate, such a good high seating position as well

  12. This is a question I get asked VERY often. The spots for kingfish are no secrets as they are well known. You can even buy maps in tackle stores which show all the good kingfish spots in Sydney. The trick is to be there when the fish are there. I move around a lot when fishing for kings. Often travelling many many kilometers. My theory is that kings will hit your bait or lure within seconds or not take it at all. The more you present a bait or a lure to a kingfish, the less they will be enticed. They are not like murray cod and are not territorial. You can't irritate a king into taking a lure or bait.

With this in mind, you can either wait for the fish to come to you or you can go to the fish. I prefer the latter. My anchor is rusting out from lack of use as I am constantly on the move.

. Last week while fishing with my mate Peter we got fish in 5-7m of water but it is very difficult to drag them out from the shallows.

These kings are on the verge of breeding and are feeding up so where ever there is bait, the kings will follow

Got done more than we'd like. To have a better chance I look for deeper water but the secret is the presence of bait.

Areas where you find these fellas is a good place to start!

    Amazing mate, thanks for sharing!

  13. Had the gillies baitfish lure in 5g pulling in multiple kings on 6lb braid about a month ago so it def works. Where have you been spotting the schools in the harbour of offshore? Only small tailor in upper harbour atm haven't ventured over to the other side yet so I'm assuming the Bonnie's and sambos have moved in now ?

  14. Great fish mate, also keen to know what kind of bait/lures have been working for you best. Not sure if its just the timing of the photos and whether they are taken well after being caught but looks like its around midday that you have caught them?

  15. Mate i would be spewing but atleast you found the fish!

    I am still dirty !

The kings are there they just haven't been playing nice the last few weeks, usually pretty tough around a full moon and the BOM has been all over the shop as well which shuts them down.

Shoot me a PM if your keen to head out sometime and see if we can chase em down, I don't think your doing anything wrong out last 2 outings have come up with nothing as well, it's just the way when your chasing the kings.

This weekend just gone last year was super foggy and we went out to longy caught nothing, came back into the harbour and landed 3 kings at north head at 1pm, very weird for that time of day.
