Unless u r fishing in over 5m of water. No sinker required, 2.5 or 3.0 will get down in 7 - 14 seconds depending on the current, jig size and wind , u need as much action as possible on the jig, touchin the weed beds on the way down and then jigging up as if the prawn has darted out of the ribbon grass. If there is a squid around he will find your jig. Good luck and most importantly cover as much ground until u find one .

Cheers bud, he got a new rod reel ($400 worth I told the Mrs $200) for his 6th bday in may as he lost a couple of good fish on his kids $20 combo, but yet to christen it , so hopefully a fish of any size for him this weekend .... oh and me! As Donna said it's all about the kids, love seeing his face when a little croc appears from the depths ... priceless!

Good work mate, the humble flaty is the best for kids and us grownups to chase, I will start my summer campaign this weekend in my backyard being the Georges , my then 5 year old son (6 now going on 10) has a pb of 57cm on a plastic hooked and reeled in by himself so 60 club for him this season. Nothing beats the young fellas out doing us old boys, keep the reports coming! And if see a little white runabout with father n son flicking come over and say g'day!

That's a cracker for our humble Botany Bay jenno ๐๐พ Top fish bud. I will start my summer Flicking thIs weekend , u have certainly given me a rev up.

Nice flaty there buddy, good on u for releasing IT?? Great pics They should be on the chew soon down here, I have been waiting till today's heat to get the water warmer Im the same , anything over 60 I prefer to release, male or female, as they don't eat as well as the 40-60 models and more importantly breeders are released so my son can hopefully fish daddy's spots when he gets older and continue have success

Not yet but a mate was out last night after that rain and got bricked by a good fish on a 8lb flicking a paddle tail west of capt cook.... trust me jewies will do your head in!
-
Nice fish bud, the GR will fish well this season. This rain will flush some bigger Jews / flatys out of there comfort zone, they love to hunt in the brown water especially near the bridges
-

I was down at Ulladulla for the young fellas father son footy trip away last weekend and one of the park residents caught a 65 on a live squid, which I would be also proud of, but I then showed him yours caught on a plastic and he nearly fell off his camp chair???.... I said u can teach an old dog new tricks , so off to the tackle store he went in search of gulps! thats a ripper bro , my bet you will get A magic metre by years end! CRACKER ????????????
-
Assumed it was dead but u never know with u ! Good fish Reminded me when I was in Fiji on a locals small boat, all of us bare feet pulling in small makos like that ,they would bang it on the head with a lump of wood , and then leave it with a headache , but not wise when they wake up! I was ready to jump out!
-
Still some Good fish bro, don't know about holding that mako though? Whats the water temp, still pretty cold water down here.

Wow, great read and looks like your Living the dream yowie, enjoy the time away.

That's the way bro, happy Father's Day. Not a bad way to spend it. I spent the day cooking and eating and watching my doggies get beat for the last time this year, I'll bring u up a spoon when up there next for your teams efforts ?

That info is gold Squ!rt ! I have only fished that system once and ended up with a good flaty on plastics left of the marine rescue shed, but plenty to explore now ???? Thankyou !
