An expensive ornament but an ornament never the less.I need something in the garage otherwise I'll get a ping pong table again to give family/friends a flogging.😂😂

  2. I flushed my outboard when brand new in a barrel of mould release (liquid silicon) after removing the prop.

I flush with water for a few minutes straight out of the water at ramp while packing up.

Sometimes I don't flush for 6 months or more because last time I checked there was no salt in my garage where the boats been sitting since I last used it.🤣🤣😂

It has been ages since the last fishing adventure.   With rain forecast the next few days I decided today was the one.

There wasn't much swell about, the wind was stronger then predicted so after poking our nose outside I decided I didn’t want to persevere with it so we ducked back inside.

Usually I’d have a plan A, B and C but today I had nothing I just wanted to be on the water.    We worked our way back in trying various spots.

I caught a banjo ray pretty promptly then the fishing was so slow we were struggling to even lose a bait.   We came across a few bust ups and still came up empty.

At our final spot near Lilli Pilli the bust ups found us.  Dad managed to pull a decent Trevor from under it followed by two more, he also managed a just under size reddie.

Maritime were out and about they came over for a safety gear check. While fussing about  to get the get the gear out the recent FR chats about its accessibility were running through my mind.   Turns out my fire extinguisher is out of date and needs to be replaced.

Great report mate. You were lucky you didn't come across any imbecilles out there.🙄

Hey mate, there is alot of selfish behaviour on and off the water. Would be good if everyone could think of others as well as themselves.

From what I've seen over the years plenty of people wouldn't even know they had a brain let alone use theirs.

You've got Buckley's of them thinking about others.

I reported this f***ing retard to the water police earlier this year. He travels at 70 knots or more (yes 70 knots). He is a danger to other boaties, he would have no control if he ever had to swerve to avoid another boat/kayak/paddle board etc.

50 knots through the 8 knot zone in Lilli Pilli. Need a location or rego number.

I have an idea he has the boat stored in Burraneer Bay, and he is out and about before the water police and maritime are on the water.

Hopefully I see this knob out on the water if I ever get out again.

  6. Hi mate,

that's the reason I own a unpainted ally boat.Looking at that boats paint and bimini/canopy frame the previous owner/s didn't have a very good wash or maintenance schedule.

To fix it properly that paintwork needs stripping right back down to bare/clean alloy then repainting.

If it was mine and funds were available I'd remove all fittings down to a bare hull.

I'd grind/Sand the corrosion until I got to bare alloy and clean paintwork. Then feather the edges of the clean paintwork.Seal the whole hull with sealer, etch prime the bare alloy areas, prime and paint with a good quality 2 Pac paint.

Do what @Welster said sealing everything that is bolted/riveted on using his methods or a combination of those and duralac.

You can buy thin rolls of sheet rubber from places like Clark rubber to make up gaskets for underneath fittings like rod holders, eyelets etc.

The weakest part of any paintwork is the edges of holes, body lines as paint is always thinner there due to the sharp edge and gravity when applying the paint.

As @Welsterpointed out paint is easily chiped on the edges of holes.

Here's an easy way to prevent it using Teflon tape aka plumbers tape I've used for decades to avoid it.

Have you got any pics of whole boat?Good luck with it.

Thank you Fab. You should give it a go yourself.

The fracture in my knee has healed, and just about back to normal.

I'm out of action for a while as I have the mother in-law in/out of hospital battling the dreaded C and the mrs with a few issues too.Working 12hr nights, helping them and the usual chores at home I simply don't have time and am buggered.

Glad to hear you're on the mend mate.
