  1. Hi Pete, Glad the big day went well. I look forward to seeing my daughters as happy as the pic of your daughter. Well done mate. I have been getting a few Jews at my spot and as usual manage to always stuff up the big ones. Mike
  2. I think that is new legislation in Victoria. Mike Hey butch, You got LR wired man. Mike
  3. Hey Krispy dont let a jew bite you as i got bitten by one about 8kg and it turned bright purple for a few days. Jew bites can get infected. My bite stayed dry but it looked pretty bad. When he bit me i pulled my hand away and i got nice puncture scrape marks. Mike
  4. Kids must have loved seeing the jew and squidies. We fished last night for a jew that took a yakka over a live squid. Pretty easy ATM to find jews in the harbour, just gotta hit the known spots with fresh bait and wait. mike
  5. Worst place in Sydney area to fish is the HR. Waste of time and money and usually ends in frustration and disappointment. Mike
  6. The longer version shows the aftermath and there was blood. Check him out on the throttle. Mike
  7. Hi Dave, Good onya for cracking the code. We were out sat night as well near you for a jew mission. We had no problem finding the jew but had issues with hooking up. Lost a very nice one but rest were about the same size as yours. Only got one into the boat. The tide and moon was really good for jews and they were out feeding in very large numbers. We fished in deep water at about 90ft. How deep were you fishing? The jews are nice and fat ATM. Mike
  8. Excellent report and a bit freaky as I just got in from a session in the same area for a very similar experience. Jews were "on" but hard to hook up. Lost a whopper and managed one in the boat a bit smaller than yours. All hits only on fresh squid. When someone gets onto a good fish the deckies really have to have your back and get all lines out of water, net or gaff ready and be prepared to pull the anchor and chase it down etc. as those big Jews are easy to lose. Mike
  9. Mate i enjoyed reading this report and glad you finally nailed one. MH can be very good at times for school jew and kings. The secret to MH is scoping out the spots that are known to hold fish then go looking for them. I have a few spots that are reasonably consistent so i stick to them. I haven't really started to target them this season but now a few reports are coming in i might have to get back out there. My jew obsession has been replaced recently with blue water addiction. Cheers, Mike
  10. Hey mate great report and ya got me really pumped. We were there in December and are going back soon for 3 weeks. Rented a house with pool and car in the Pango area of Port Villa. After doing Fiji a few times we discovered Vanuatu and we love it. How good is the fishing. We did a game fish out of Villa and had best days fishing ever on the Blue Marlin. is it worth going to Tanna? A friend said his kids loved it especially as it erupted whilst there and they ran for their lives with volcanic stuff falling to the ground nearby. They closed it for two weeks that day until it settled. Also was it expensive, fly or boat? When we were there we saw the Jail, it had onlyn8 inmates. There is hardly any rules over there, for instance, no drink driving laws ect Cheers Mike
  11. Geez mate you did very well. Glad to see a bigger model Jew instead of the endless 50-60cm models that have been around for the last few seasons. I am heading out in the morning for a squid flick then hit the hole for high tide king or Jew. Mike
  12. I would think these guys would be moving on by now or very soon. Good catch for MH. Mike
  13. Well done mate doing the right thing as not everyone would. It is always a sobering experience to look down on a dead body, kinda puts life into perspective. I feel for this guys family, but thanks to you they can grieve and bury their loved one. Mike
  14. Mate this time of year is probably the hardest time to catch anything. Agree about burley being required. Other than that it's chase some salmon or bream. Night time try for a Jew. By October things will be picking up across the board and time to get serious. I reckon this time of year is good to get the boat out, serviced and fix up any little issues ready for action. I noticed on my boat after sitting around most of winter my bait tank pump was a bit dodgy and my white nav light had rusted out. Easy to fix and needed soon when time to get amongst em. Nothing worse than having boat issues when the action is hot and you are sitting at home reading about it. Cheers Mike
  15. August is a tough month for fishing. I might try for Jews in MH Saturday night but not hopeful. Fixed the boat up getting ready for new season. Had the floor out and thought I'd whack it back in as had time. Put it in then walked over to the door and noticed the pile of flotation I forgot to put back in. Redo tomorrow and think about what I'm doing this time. Bloody critters have invaded us this year. I live up the road from the ramp and we have bush turkeys, packs of possums, bandicoots covered in ticks, rabbits, blue tongues (cool)and a few months ago a red bellied black snake turned up after a few days torrential rain. Don't get me started on the spiders. I got smashed by ticks had like a hundred bites and got really sick. Also seen a few locals with horrendous spider bites. Last 2 months critters have backed off. Ever since the dog died and no one patrolling the perimeter the barbarians have invaded. Cheers. Ps don't pat the bandicoots as covered in ticks. Dug a paralysis tick out of my wife's neck 4 weeks ago. It blew up like a half golf ball out of her neck. Just one night.
  16. when at pickering point looking towards the "bluff" go straight ahead and turn into the bay area on left. Watch sounder as the reef comes right up like a mound. There is a big yacht sitting near/over it. Mike
  17. I have fished VB a few times over the years and surprisingly caught bugger all. It holds good bait at times and looks good on the sounder but no luck. Had better luck with kings by moving over to Pickering point. You would think that VB would hold jews at times. Mike
  18. Yeah sounds like MH. Mostly quiet then a devastating run on the wrong rod. Go heavy and forget a hit like that. Lost a few big ones like that to moorings. I usually fish MH a lot but blue water addiction has kept me further afield. Might just have to hit the jewie spot soon. I have promised myself that the next big one is going back to swim on and anything over 1m is not a keeper for me anymore. Cheers man and good luck, runs like that keep you going back. Mike
  19. Nice blue guys. We got one YFT. You guys must have come in behind us last night. We stuck with our mate on another boat who had some difficulties on the awesome trip home last night. Least we all got a feed. Mike

Glad you guys did well and look forward to some pics. We will be out in that area Sunday and can't wait. Hope my 50 gets a work out. Mike
  21. Sounds like a dream come true. Love the Go Pro. I will be taking one on Sunday looking for blues and glad to hear they didn't eat it. Made mental note of that for Sunday. Cheers Mike
  22. Yeah agree with you Ceph. It will leave just one lane open on far left and others clogged with moored boats to pontoon. Bet we start to see big cruisers and yahts just sitting there taking up space. Glad i mainly fish weekdays as it will go "to the rats" on sundays. Might have to have my morning coffee down there and put together a Go Pro Youtube movie. Might even get a few good ones for Funniest Home Videos. Mike
  23. Hi Brett, Mate we went out from pittwater today and conditions were good but fishing was slow. Plenty of whales around and loads of small flatties with one keeper landed for dinner and a big one lost. Heaps of big slimies around Barronjoey Headland. No taker on a big livey. Since Rosie has been closed I have only fished MH once. Once reopened going to do a few jewie sessions so might see you out there. Mike
  24. Hi Steve, Mate that is a day to remember forever. My mouth waters just thinking about taking one of those beasts home. We are hitting the northern beaches reefs saturday looking for snapper if the weather holds. Mike
  25. I had a similar experience with my Twin Power. I tried to fix it and in the end took it to my tackle store for a look. He fixed it in a few minutes for free. You know that if you hook a big one gear failure is heart breaking. Mike
