  4. Oddly enough, I have no problems launching or retrieving from that ramp. Perhaps your asking too much of your light vehicle to retrieve such a heavy boat? I launch and retrieve a 14 foot fibreglass boat from that very ramp , with a Pajero, in 2 wheel drive , at high , low and middle tide . Obviously , I prefer High Tide , but even at low tide , I am able to put the boat on the trailer , and drive slowly away from the ramp . Admittedly , there is a significant amount of moss on the ramp, but it has never been an issue for me. Ross
  5. Best excuse I ever heard was when I was at Tech. One of my mates failed to turn up one week , and when asked wy he wasnt there the previous week , he replied " It was Jugoslav Anzac Day " .. ( This was some time in July) . He didnt get paid ! Ross
  6. WhichRamp Rainman? #1 son may be looking for a spot as I will be busy cooking etc . PM myself or Mrsflightmanager . Ross
  7. Havent fished for Yakkas for a while at Balmoral , but I have found that if they are on the chew , the bigger fish in the Harbour are also . I use a tin of cheap cat food , chopped up , and distributed in the water. This will bring them up . ( If the water is clear , you can see them attacking the burley). I use Sabiki or Hyabusa jigs , with a tiny morsel of bait on the hook . Sometimes they go for prawn , other times squid , or even a sliver of sweep ( always lots of them there!) . If they arent hitting one bait , try another . Best time I have found is sunrise , but having said that , we have also done very well at noon . Go figure. I like to use the reef directly in front of the island , depth about 11 feet ( or its metric equivalent). Its about 50 feet in front of the island. Another popular spot is just to the North( right hand side of the same island). Ross
  8. You have been added James , look forward to seeing you on the 13th !! Ross
  9. It has been a might breezy. Ross
  10. Roosterman , last years winning Flathead was caught less than 200 M from "BaseCamp" . There are several rock walls that extend out into the bay , these appear at times to hold good lizards. Ross
  11. Seems to be the month of shoulder injuries , I am on compo now for a shoulder injury , which sadly prevents me from fishing. When you say Rotator Cuff Syndrome , have you just strained it , or actually put a small tear in one of the muscles? A tear is typically caused by a sudden shock or jolt , whereas a strain could be the result of a repetitive action ( such as jigging ) . Ross
  12. Check the hollow tube isnt blocked , sometimes stuff is forced up the tube . Ross
  13. Ya gotta be happy with that !! Well done Jacinta Ross
  14. Bad idea . Do not leave the ignition on with the engine not running , it will damage the ECM , and other expensive bits. Just hook the guage up to the battery for the required time. Ross
  15. There is a good ramp at Kissig Point ( Putney) . Pontoon very close to ramp , and very easy to use , even at low tide. Small amount of wash from the occasional Jet Cat , but my preferred ramp inSydneys west. Ross
  16. Off on Compo , so no fishing for me . Ross
  17. Actually , it is a component that changes the AC current from the alternator to DC , and limits the voltage to about 14 V DC. Its only small , but they can be pretty costly. Ross
  18. Reason is that company doesnt pay us for advertising , our sponsors do. So any company name will not display as typed. Ross
