  1. Hi guys, My gf has finally decided to give fishing a go but she wants to go oyster shucking. Could someone tell me where I can go do this with her around sydney that is safe to eat from as well? Thanks guys, Regards, Zac Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4
  2. Nice catch! Was that caught land based or by boat? If so which area did you get them in if you don't me asking? Cheers, Zac
  3. Sweet, thanks for that. I will be sure to try it out mate. Cheers, Zac
  4. Thanks Mike and what do you mean by pole? Just because I have never been there and I am not familiar with the surroundings. Thanks, Zac
  5. I went out this Saturday morning, we caught 3 Aussie Salmon between 65cm-80cm, we caught 5 winter kingies which were all in the 50cm range and they were released back into the drip. We also caught a good sized 80cm Pike. Very good day we had.
  6. Where abouts is the best place to fish there? Always wanted to try but never really got serious about it, what baits etc is more productive there as well? Thanks, Zac
  7. Awesome! Where were you guys trolling?
  8. WOW, I think you have me hooked, I am ditching the Berkley's as soon as this shipment comes in. One other question, do you use jig hooks for these and if so where do you get yours from and what size. The reason I ask is because I bought a packet from Big W back when I got the Berkleys and they are weird when you put the plastics onto them because the hook sits funny. Cheers, Zac
  9. Cool, is it a light rod to fish with and is it sensative?
  10. Makes sense! Never thought it could affect them that much, If I end up buying the Abu Garcia rod then I will be sure to keep it between 2-4Kgs. You just reminded me when I was using my brother rod which is the Veritas before this ones model, I was losing a lot of squid compared to the squid I was catching on my smaller rod. Thanks for the advice and I really appreciate it! Have a good day mate Cheers, Zac
  11. Thanks for that the changes have been made, why shoudn't I go heavier than 2-4Kgs? I have more than 20 jigs in my tackle bag as well haha and they keep going up everytime. I really love the Sephia range though, they make an awesome squid jig!
  12. I think I have a squid obsession!!! In saying that everytime I go to the shops and there is a tackle shop around, I will walk in and buy a squid jig and then that same night I will be itching to go to my squidding spots and try my new jig out haha. I think about it at work and Fishraider doesn't help it either. Anyways I need your help now in trying to find myself a new rod, I heard the Sephia range in rods is pretty good but I was taking a look at the Abu Garcia Veritas Rod Combo they have at my local tackle shop. Has anyone bought this combo and if so what do you think of it? I basically want to use it for squidding as well as catching small fish such as bream, flatties, etc. Look forward to your replies and thank you. Zac
  13. Yea apparently that place is very productive at times. I just hate going towards the harbour and try to avoid it as much as I can, too many idiots that fish there and ruin the whole feeling of it. Might head down back to the Hacking tonight if I get the chance and see if they're still around!
  14. Nice fish mate! Those Rein's work better than Berkley gulps?
  15. Botany Bay produces some nice squid. Try going to La perouse in front of bare island or you can try the harbour I would say around Rose bay and Watsons bay wharf. Keep working the weed beds and make sure you go where there is sufficient lighting or even take one with you, I also take a can of Egimax with me as it tends to drive them insane or you could rub a pilchard on the jig. There's still some out there and I need to find the time myself to go out and get some more.
  16. Definitely mate, I will hopefully give it a go this Sunday if I get the chance and I will post to let you guys know how it went thanks for that mate and have a good day!
  17. Nice, nice! I went out same week Sunday and caught 4 of them on sun down that same day! I wanted to know can I get land access to Yarra Bay where you fished them out?
  18. Yep sure was! Froze them up though might cook them on the weekend. I'm going to try and get out there this weekend!
  19. Hello Raiders! Just thought I would post this to all those Squid freaks out there... Went out on Sunday last week during the day got to my squidding spot around 3PM and setup my rod and jigs ready to cast and blast them out of the water. The wind had picked up even though I had checked Willy's weather AND Weatherzone which both claimed there was going to be little WIND that day but I wasn't going to let a little wind spoil the fun. So I continued casting my jigs, I would cast straight and they would end up to the left, my first hookup on a 15cm calamari which was tiny was weird because I had crossed lines with the guy next to me and at the same time pulled this little one up haha. I continued working my jigs until finally the sun decided it's going down, as soon as the light started fading I hooked up 3 nice sized squid and one of them being an Arrow Head within the 8 casts I made. I decided that was enough and I packed my things up and left! Just goes to show that they are still out there but you will come across the small ones which can go back to be the next monsters. I don't have any photos of them as my phone was dead at the time! Cheers Squidders, Z.S
  20. I think because it's mating season for them now you will only find small ones. I went out to the hacking on Sunday and scored myself two average size squids, one about 15cm which I used as a livey and a massive arrow head. I found it to be more productive as the sun was going down, I pulled up 3 in 8 casts but I was also going deep and using a 2.5 squid jig. I am thinking of going to La Perouse this weekend, do you guys think it will be worth it in scoring those big green eyed monsters Cheers, Zaki
  21. Where abouts did you go if you don't mind me asking? Are you land or boat based? I was out in the Port Hacking last Sunday and came back with 4 nice onces, one of them being an Arrow Head which surprised me because I thought it was mostly Southern Calamari you get there.
  22. Ok so I am looking on maps, is it the bay on the inside of Cronulla or the one outside which is part of the Tasman Sea?
  23. i know both lilli pilli baths and bare island produce squid but not sure if they are firing at the moment Hmm well I might go give it a shot. Which one you think is more productive at times?
  24. Hey guys, can you guys give me a heads up to any good squidding spots around lilli pilli that are land based? Even so I heard the La Perouse produces some good squid just infront of Bare Island there. I just need a heads up on a good spot for this weekend.
  25. Has anyone been down to Lilli Pilli lately? I wanted to know because I was thinking about giving it a shot this weekend as I have never been there before. I was wondering if anyone can give me a heads up on what type of species can be caught down there, also would there be a good spot to possibly through around my squid jigs? I might just take my light gear with me but if there is a chance to score a winter jewfish down there then I might consider taking my beach rod and reel. All the help will be useful guys so throw whatever you have at me. Thanks, Zaki Shahin
