  1. were you in the white car and asked me if i had caught anything? if so - you definitly should fish further down stream
  2. well, I fished under the road bridge tonight, eastern side, 7pm to 10pm, using month old pillies (got smashed, but no use), month old squid (a few taps) and month old skirt steak ( very popular) got 2 x 25cm bream and had a massive hook up that was head shaking but busted off at the hook (6lb leader), pretty sure it was a large bream, and then it shut down around 9pm... i shoulda got the SP's out earlier, but the bait fishing was constant action so couldn't resist trying to keep two rods in the game... great spot! thanks Tom - was fun despite dropping the large beast...
  3. thanks for the reply - I will just have to go catch me some trevors then btw - what oil do you use? peanut oil? i love thai - i grind my own curry pastes
  4. you can even use cooked prawns from coles... better value than teh servo prawns you get (you have to buy the 400g bag to get decent sized ones if you buy from a servo) i reckon peeling them first is better to catch bream with too
  5. yep, would love to know also!
  6. wow! does this work with most firm fleshed fish?
  7. hi, i am a bit confuised, where is the castle? is it here: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=-33.791404,151.223604&hl=en&sll=-25.335448,135.745076&sspn=48.625677,78.046875&t=h&z=16 where are the stone steps? when i went tehre, i walked down the road to here: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=-33.792514,151.226249&hl=en&ll=-33.792523,151.226249&spn=0.011181,0.019054&sll=-33.791542,151.231034&sspn=0.011181,0.019054&t=h&z=16 and walked around to my left to fish of the southern point. is there a better spot? is this accessable: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=-33.791542,151.231034&hl=en&sll=-25.335448,135.745076&sspn=48.625677,78.046875&t=h&z=16 looks like a nice fishy point thanks! (great thread so far!)
  8. scott - how do you decide whether you use SB or albright? i use albright for <15lb and SB for >15lb? gonna learn the FG or something simialr soon for my bigger size lines, SB still seems to catch the guides... (hence why i was experimenting with superglue to streamline)
  9. lol - yep! as per scotty - try a longer leader, but i also run a small ID lumo bead above the swivel, so it stops on the knot - and the sinker doesnt hit the knot... also experimented with superglue streamlining the knot, but havent been doing it so much since going longer leaders... i gave up on ezi-rigs but i am sure they have a right place for successful use...
  10. hey mate - re: 3lb power pro - i just spooled up my 2500 with power pro in the white colour, and it had a few lumps or nodules along it - is this normal? i messaged the supplier, but not heard back yet these catch the line as i am casting so is a major concern... any advice?
  11. have you heard of/tried using 'surf poppers'? http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=63267 i read that you can even rig up a SP on a hook with no jig head to work a similar way... i'm gonna try it off the beach when I head down to Gerroa next week
  12. mate, for bait fishing with a sinker & swivel - i still use a leader of FC then tie the swivel to the leader and then a trace to the hooks... i hate the idea of a sinker crushing my braid to the sea floor under my sinker, and also hate the knots that i see my mates dealing with (as they are too lazy to tie leaders on) in some cases the use of a non-braid leader is called a 'shock leader'
  13. good to hear you are OK, but reminder that you shouldnt fish without telling people where you are going, and also if you CHANGE spots - tell someone, no use a search party searching somwhere you *were*... nice that the energy guys could practice their emergency response skills
  14. here was i thinking you were concerned you were being sold fake Hawkesbury Prawns!
  15. cheers for that - i just wish a i had a proper freezer plus - i think all the reading up on Ike Jime really taught me a lot about care of fish for the table...
  16. sooo, leads to the obvious question of where to get seawater ice? but this is why i only kill my fish on site, and process at home... it can sit in a freshice/saltwater slurry and not get too damaged by the freshwater... mind you - you need to be extra careful of processing the gut & head, as these have their own bacteria that you don't want to cross-contaminate into the food & processing area...
  17. it is unlawful to use a trap without a label: http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/nsw/consol_reg/fmr2010339/s38.html Dave EDIT: whether you'll be fined by Fisheries for not doing so whilst in sight of the trap is another matter
  18. Matt - trap size info is here: http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/regulations/sw/methods

  20. ctrl A, ctrl C, alt tab, ctrl V, save sounds awesome!
  21. ahh, OK, i get what you are saying! is there a way to calculate how much?
  22. well, the PDF says only half (8.9%) of the NSW energy price increase is due to the CT, the rest of the 18% is due to incompetent electricity network managers... still not really sure where your 40% fits in though? EDIT: i am not trying to argue with you, i am just a bit confused by your comments?
  23. OK, i thought you were talking about the Carbon Tax...
  24. can you explain those comments a bit more? what is 18%? I thought the CT was charged per tonne?
