  1. Thanks for the report Damo, looks like I'll be taking a sickie tomorrow.
  2. Good report Dan. My general rule with the weather is you fish the mornings in the summer because of the nor east winds that always come up the afternoon and then in winter you fish the afternoons which are normally always calmer. It's just a general rule like I said but it's normally how the weather is. I sometimes don't leave home till around 9 or 10am on a winters fishing day.
  3. Thanks for the report Damo and unlucky about the fish. When you say 109kg, are you thinking YFT?
  4. Some days the gemmies are so thick you hook up before you even hit the bottom, this generally happens in July/August.
  5. That is one serious blue eye, fantastic.
  6. Yeah your boattart, it really is about just getting out there and having a shot. Thanks.
  7. Anybody heading out tomorrow for a YFT run, just wondering what to do. Has anybody been out the last couple of days or heading out tomorrow? Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.
  8. What brands does everybody love to use on YFT with fishing line, also keeping in mind that when we cube we fish straight through with just a hook. Has anybody tried the chameleon from maxima, it is red colour? Also it is for my overhead tiagra. Thanks
  9. That is some great stuff, footage was awesome. Well done on broadening the horizon also especially for me where i think all botany kings are at molineaux.
  10. You could try the southern canyons as another option which is south of browns, heard there are blue eye and gemfish around there. I have never fished there but I'm planning on giving it a shot soon.

    Fin

My heart is starting to beat much faster now, love it.
  12. I find slimies don't swim with yakkas but on the outskirts and out of sight. For this reason we use a handline and cast baited hooks beyond the yakkas and slowly retrieve the line, does the trick for us.

    Xmas Reds

Great report, it just means now that my plan of attack has changed for tomorrow. Just a quick question but how do you set up your soft plactics rod in that depth of water.

    Crookhaven

Thanks for the reply, I'm familiar with the lighthouse so I'll give it a crack. Hopefully the kings do turn up but it will be a new experience, can't wait just hope the weather is good.

    Crookhaven

Well be towing the boat down to culburra for the first time over Christmas and was looking for some advice on where to look for live bait and kingfish in the vicinity of crookhaven. Well be launching from the crookhaven ramp. It's obviously a general question but any suggestions will do. Thanks. Well be fishing from a 22ft boat.
  16. Thanks for the replies, some good ideas there. Two questions: 1. With the pvc pipe do the cubes float down the pipe easily. 2. How big of a bottle would you buy for a 3-4 hour cube session. I mean I already have a bottle of 500ml or something close at home, would that be sufficent? Thanks.
  17. We went for a fish yesterday afternoon south and after establishing a good trail we had caught 2 plate size reds. We were thinking we were going to be into a really hot bite when all of a sudden a gang of trouble makers showed up....... Mutton birds. These things would not leave and it was impossible to keep the trail going, these birds would dive and grab the cubes that we had thrown out. What can people suggest to help a situation like this, it's very frustrating. Also what trace and hooks do you use when floater fishing for snapper? Do circle hooks work doing this style of fishing. Thanks.
  18. Great report again Wacko, great stuff. What are your thoughts on reds biting during the day, for example around midday in the deeper water, do they still come on or is it best to stick to dawn and dusk as usual.
  19. Wacko they are some solid reds, well done. Thanks for the insight on plastics fishing also and would be interested to hear your cubing technique. One other question is with your afternoon cube sessions, do you find the wind stronger in the afternoon particularly in summer, how do you counter-act that?
  20. I'm pretty sure it's 75km's to heatons from the heads. Haven't heard alot but did hear of some YFT off Wollongong.
  21. Steve we will be out on Sunday, I work on Saturday. Let us know how you go on Saturday?
  22. We don't have the greatest sounder in the world so can someone tell me how far past browns the 1000ft line is, just curious.
