Mike thanks for teh report, sounds promising as least from the point of bottom bashing.
Weather permitting well be out tomorrow, what boat do you fish from.
Well be in a green trophy " annetta"
The weather seems to be shaping up nicely for a trip out.
Will probably do an early jig session at the 12 mile, then have a drop at browns and probably an afternoon cube session for makos or YFT.
I have heard that the blue eye have made an appearance so that seems hopefull, has anyone heard anything about any tuna that may be about with the good water that has pushed in.
Thanks in advance.
Great report and well done on the blue eye, there have been more reports of gemfish than blue eye of late so a really good effort there. Oh and im fairly certain the orange fish is an ocean perch, fantastic tucker.
WHAT!!!!!!
No way, that is incredible.
Well done, now that is what i call extreme, extreme fishing.
Was there any current, did you use a paternoster rig or did you just drop the 400g jig on its own.
If all goes well, thursday will be our day.
Try to jig up some kings in the morning, hopefully a bottom bash at browns aftre that and see if its worth a cube for YFT in the afternoon. Its a big day but well see how we go.
Fantastic haul, absolutely love catching squid.
Well done.
By the way I would normally freeze the bigguns and eat the smaller ones, I find the smaller ones are more tender than the bigger ones.
Just checked the updated weather forecast and it has improved.
We might be heading for blue eye and fin tomorrow.
Is anyone else thinking about heading out.
I personally would think on a really good day the trip would take about 40-45 minutes so i always give myself an hour to get to browns considereing weather conditions.
Any reports yet.
I have been hearing some various reports of YFT being caght cubing but also of temps being around 25 degrees near browns and of a raging current.
None the less well be heading out tomorrow to tempt our luck.
Good luck all.
Brillant report Greg.
We were out on saturday with some fantastic conditions also.
Just a few questions though, were you cubing for YFT, what was the water temperature like out there and was the current pushing hard. On saturday we had 24 degrees and the current was flying and was near impossible to drop to the mountain.
