  1. Thanks for the posts. Gambit any idea on where the YFT were caught
  2. I have been hearing some constant talk of YFT being caught off sydney. I went to a pretty reputable tackle store today who said his friend who is a fisherman/photogragher was has been catching them pretty reguarly the last 3-4 days cubing . Has anyone had much luck on them and any other feedback would be appreciated.

    Nothing...

Kiro we had the exact same day you had yesterday, these days just seem to come around sometimes. We have been catching kingies reguarly recently and was confident enough to invite my cousin for a session on the kings yesterday. First part went well with 7 squid in the live bait tank and then absoluely nothing after that. I have never downrigged so much in my life for nothing, was a shocker and what made it worse was my cousin hasnt yet to experience a kingie run. Next time though.
  4. Was at kymeegh ramp today and a boat had inside of it what looked to be a blue of around 180kg to 200kg. They said they caught it north of browns.
  5. Absolutely spot on, this has happened way too many times. These brutes are toying with us even with 24kg gear, im actually coming to the point where i think its impossible to land them.
  6. Andrew that is some top fishing mate. A big congratulations to you and Amir. Well done again, you will have to tell me everything next time we see each other at the gym.
  7. What were the weather conditions like baggin out.
  8. I reckon a uni would work fine. Havent lost any kings to date because of it.
  9. Congratulations on a top capture especially from botany. You are right about the undersze kingies to, there were heaps of them on monday and they were about 40 to 50cm to.
  10. Yeah the wilson live fibre rods alasdair mentioned are really good and they fit your requirements nicely and you can get either a 8-15kg model or 15-24kg. They are strong rod.
  11. Unlucky livebait about the lost kings. Was your report from today, I think we were the boat you were talking about with the 2 kings. The afternoon downrigging session was horrible due to wind and rubbish in the water which made downrigging near impossoble, however the morning session on the other hand was a ripper. Every pass we were getting hit and all fish were over 75cm. A bit more persistence and you will get them.
  12. What an excellent capture. Definitely something to be proud of, well done.
  13. That is absolutely insane, 2 metre plus kingies in a year is a miracle let alone one week. A huge well done to you and your crew.
  14. Fantastic read Arman. Sounds like a top day with good company and a good fish. Well done.
  15. What an absolute cracker of a fish. My brother fished botany for a few kingies and a huge bust off on 50lb on thursday.
  16. Bloody ripper of a fish. A big congratulations.
  17. I have to agree with you, it does make it so much harder if you are fishing by yourself which is what was so good about the ramp before, i really dont like the idea of the new changes.
  18. I had a look and feel of the saragosa the other day and it does look the goods. It does look like a jigging weapon but i wouldnt know how it would go cubing for big fin.
  19. Anyone heading out tomorrow, looks like were heading out depending on the weather. Were probably heading out early morning, that seems like the times they have been catching them. Well be abroad a green trophy "anetta"
  20. Hey Ross great report. How long do you think the fin will stay around for.
  21. Just heard from a tackle store owner who said YFT to 15kg were being caught at browns today.
  22. We were out on thursday also, the water looked really good actaully. What time did you catch and what boat were you on, we were dropping for blue eye and gemfish.
  23. In my opinion the kingies wont really show up in good numbers until the water warms up although I have caught most of my kingies around feb through to may with the best spot being molineaux point. You should also try bare island and yarra bay for squid.
  24. I spoke to a charter operator yesterday who said that we should see the YFT very soon and also a mate of his went 43m for 3 YFT to 20kg.
  25. Thanks to your report Barker we got onto a few kings at the 12 mile today. The kings are still hanging around thats for sure. Well done.
