  1. Nice work mate. Nothing much happening up this way yet. Jealous as. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Not a lot happening in the lake at the moment. Seems the beach is working. Well done Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. A great read mate. Very good. I've been up there twice now with guides. Done the mary river and shady camp also the south alligator. It's all about the adventure for me and the stories to tell. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Yeah that's a nice effort. Just great to be on the water. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Land based can be a bit difficult but some good reports on the beach for whiting using live beach worms which you can buy from the tackle shops There's still plenty of flathead with good catches on dusk or at night around the bridge area. Bream and whiting at night also near the caravan park on the north side. Nice beach area there now thanks to the dredge. Got 1 kilo of prawns Saturday night. You might get a few for bait. If so keep them alive to catch anything. Remember run out tide the best for prawns. South channel near boat ramp is good for the kids they will catch plenty of throw backs. Cheers Steve. 7. Are you land based or do you have a boat? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. There's a full moon on the 23rd March. Which is not ideal time. We normally wait until 5 days after the moon. But you never know. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. If you hold the tail of your net against the handle and use your net like a shovel then flick the crab into a bucket. We do this for the blue swimmers at the entrance. My mate put his foot on a mud crab when prawning and it bit right through his boot. Don't try that technique. Well done on catching something anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Well done Andrew. You just can't have too many rods. Especially at that price. Let's hope you get some nice fish with them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I'm yet to see a 50kg catch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Pleasure Norm. Black fishing next. Same group. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Check out the location in the daylight first. Look for danger. Holes etc If wading wear a belt. Long tail on your net. Schoolies like the sand Kingies like the weed edges. Take extra batteries Head light can be handy. Scoop like your playing tennis don't splash the water. Thing about something to put them in. A shoulder fishing bag keeps you mobile. Don't prawn on your own. Don't know the area so can't advise on where to go. Take a mate and have fun. Cheers Steve. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I Do most times. Good idea Neil Cheers Steve. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. To get away from my wife. lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Thanks mate. I've heard the squid up that way has been unreal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Quite possible. The pros have caught a few over the years. I've only seen one small shark in 50 years. But anything is possible. We went right around the Entrance area on the weekend as Dwayne got a new sounder in his boat. The deepest spot was 2 metres. But there are reports of deeper holes in the top lake. 18. Hi Bruce. Weed a bit hard to find at the moment. But won't be long mate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Yes papa a lot better than the last time you came down mate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. No I don't go to too much trouble. I leave them in the bucket then drown them in fresh water as I live near the lake. If I wanted to cook them the next day I'll leave in the bucket in the fridge with no water. If I want to freeze them. Fill a container to 3/4 then fresh water ( no salt ) put a lid on. If I have leftovers I'll peel them then vacuum deal with rice and sweet and sour sauce or curry for an instant meal Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. King prawns in the middle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Yes well done yowie eastern King are the darker colour and school prawns the light colour. There were a few greasie backs as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Yes the water level has dropped but it's still murky on the run out tide. Takes weeks for this to clean up after a flood. On the run in tide it's a lot better and depending on the size of the the tide the clean water nearly reaches Pelican Island. Hasn't put the fishing off though. Plenty of flathead and prawns. Got these prawns last week and looking forward to a good run this weekend. The flathead are a good size and plenty of reports of good catches. Dwayne (pictured) and I bagged out on Sunday all with soft plastic lures. Hopefully we'll get some more good weather and the fishing stays the same. Cheers Steve Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
