  1. Waratah bay! Plenty of hairtail in there last week! How did you go sambros?
  2. Unlucky codie! At least you got out and had a go! Farvos- the hawksebo can do that to you sometimes! It's either feast or famine there. Cowan creek is holding some good fish though! Cheers scratchie!!!
  3. Good stuff Andrew! Always nice to help some keen youngsters out! Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. You won't get a 2m swell at Juno point unless it's 3.5-4m outside and directly east swell. As amkr says, more to do with experience! Cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Yes I'm addicted!!! But it can also be torture, living so close to the water, you've got the day off and it's blowing 30kts! Just like bloody today is! Grrrrr
  6. Thanks guys! Cheers deano! Anytime your up this way mate drop me a line! Always need an excuse to go fishing!
  7. It must be a no fishing day! Dragging up 4 year old posts
  8. Why do you have so few rods and reels???? I thought you said your a fisherman???? Here's my back shed........ Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. If you are chasing your first hairtail then WB seemed to hold more fish than JB. Although the fish in JB seemed to be bigger! I would suggest to just grab a mooring at WB. Take a block of pilchards. Drop down about 6-10m with a gang hook, don't worry about a stinger. Burley up and wait! It won't be long before your on! Although, chasing hairtail can be an all night thing and you never know when the bite is going to be! Good luck! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. Well done big B! I know you were happy to get that one in. And jack did a good job helping you out! JD- could've been but I'm sure mine was a bit bigger! Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Thanks mate! Great fish! I'm very envious. If you have any left over ill pm you my address! Lol
  12. Looks an awesome fish! My most rated eating and fighting fish of all. Please give us a bit more info than that! Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. Donna, what a fantastic wrap up of the weekend! It's funny, because everyone that is there can post all they want but it still doesn't describe how awesome it is living there in that moment! The beautiful river, cliff surroundings, screams from raiders "I'm on", sitting there waiting for your turn, the banter between everyone and then finally "your on"! And knowing every raider is there wishing you the very best! It just doesn't get better than that! Except the fact my kids are by my side! That was the highlight of my trip! Thank you both Donna and stewy for the recognition you bestowed on me! I love this site and have made many friends because of it! You both truly need to sit back sometime and understand the community that you have both created! The comraderie that exists between raiders is something I've never experienced before in any situation. People willing to spend and give their time and knowledge to complete strangers just because they are Fishraiders! Now that is special! So, for all you good people out there reading this.......... See you next year! Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. That would be great! If not, there's always the trailer boat tournament that sponsors our site each year! Arvo session cancelled. It's raining and blowing 15kts! Grrrrrrr. Oh well, there's always tomorrow!
  15. Cheers Dave! I used to be an Anna Bay local but had to move around the corner! A shame the BFT don't get this far up!
  16. Cheers! The suns now out and there's no wind. I've cleaned the house, got dinner ready and looked after the kids! Hope fully that earns me a leave pass!
  17. That's fantastic! That is an average of one fish donated by every member who attended except of coarse by Amkr! (sorry mate)
  18. cheers, the snapper would have definitely made it home for lunch. The salmon, well I don't like our cat anyway! so back he went Thanks basil. gees if you moved up here, between us both there would be a few nervous snapper! lol Truly blessed to live here! I don't want to wish my life away but retirement will be exciting! Hopefully I'm allowed out this arvo, after all I just spent 4 days on the Hawkesbury!
  19. G'day raiders, Woke up this morning and looked outside to see a beautiful glass out and overcast conditions. Now I'm truly blessed, as I can see my favourite fishing spot from my lounge chair! With whales going aerial in the background and my morning coffee taking affect, I thought bugger it I'm going fishing for a few hours! Just as I was about to walk out the back door, the fun police awoke and said "don't forget I'm working and you've got to mind some friends kids at 9am". Bugger!!! "Alright, I'll be back in an hour". So I reduced the tackle bag and walked down with only 2 jig heads and 2 sp's! Casted a few times and come up tight. Good fish, good fish and yes what I wanted, a nice snapper! Get it to the rocks and looks about 50cm, nice panny! Start to lift it up using the swell and the fish takes one more run and under the ledge, pop! Leader breaks! Grrrr, I have a few choice words to myself and re-rig and notice I only have half a foot of leader left. A few more casts and I'm on again. Definately a different fish and then I see it go arial, nice sambo! This time I don't make the same mistake and manage to bring it up for a quick photo and back it went! (Tried to get the whale in background but I'm hopeless at selfies) Anyway, a few more casts and I packed up to make my deadline. I then realised I needed bread for brekky, so in the car and off to the shops and back home all within the hour! I love Port stephens!!! Thanks for reading, Cheers scratchie!!! P.s wife is home this arvo, so I might get a quick flick in before this front comes over
  20. Nice basil. I'm reading your report getting all excited, yes your right it's snapper season. Then I remembered the weather forecast for this week! Grrrrr. I might just have to read your report a few more times before I get the chance to get out there! Great stuff as always mate! Cheers scratchie!!!
  21. Great work dave! Thanks for the report. I think you've just got a few raiders excited! Cheers scratchie!!!
  22. Well that's a sad but true story! Glad you boys enjoyed yourself and your pike hairtail could be a raider record! (And a new scientific species) There's always next time! Cheers scratchie!!!
