  2. Welcome from abroad Kit!!! You've stumbled onto the best fishing forum in Australia! Hope you enjoy the site! Cheers scratchie!!!
  3. I wouldn't eat them! Definately a throw back!
  4. Good report budzsta! Those squid look like some good size bait there! Cutting the hook is definately the best method but if there are whiting about, holding onto the rod and striking will prevent that on most occasions! Cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Thanks for sharing your experience and not naming the charter. Definately worth the money using a local and well respected operator! Nothing worse than feeling ripped off! Cheers scratchie!!!

Congrats on the nice jewy! And thanks for sharing your (secret) info! Good to see there's some nice fish about! Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Not a report. Moved to the chat section!
  8. Good luck on your wedding day Ben! A shame you didn't invite everyone on Fishraider! Lol. All the best with the day and your honeymoon. By the sounds of it, a catch of a lifetime! Best of luck to you both! Sorry, no advice on charters or fishing spots either! But a bit of life advice, put the pants on and never take them off Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. Well, considering the talent that we have in this state, how the hell do we consistently lose so many games over the last 10 years??? Is it the coaching or the selections??? I'm a massive league fan but I'm starting to be really dejected by the lack of effort and commitment by the NSW side. Bring back the "cattle dog@". At least if we can't win the game, we can win the fight! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. You shouldn't post videos like that with all this crap weather! I just walked past my fish tank and they all looked nervous! Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Lip grip it beside the yak and whack it with a paddle or pacifier! I'd much prefer a boat though!
  12. That's gutsy! I wouldn't say many, if any people have done that! But it would not surprise me with the talent we have here on Fishraider! Good luck!!! Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. Cheaper still....... Cut a piece of old shirt, shorts or any cloth material and/or plastic and snell it to a hook! There's the cheapest lure you'll find.
  14. Your very generous Harold. Thank you for the support of this site and our famous hairtail social. Not long now raiders, so if you haven't signed up already, nows the time to get your winter Wollies together and come join the fun!
  15. Sounds like you were in the right place. Chasing hair tail can be an all night thing not just an hour or so after dark! Gang hooks are the general method unless you use a wire trace. I always fish with the lightest sinker the current will allow and this should alleviate tangles. Next you need to drop your bait to the bottom and wind up about 3m. Hairtail feed vertically, hence winding your bait from the bottom! Hope that helps on your next trip! Cheers scratchie!!!
  16. Alright, it's been a busy week but I'm ready to go! I fully stripped the boat out, gurnied everything down, put in new deck lights, fixed all the little things that have been bothering me! Today, I sorted all my gear, rigged rods, made a list of what to bring! Done!!! Now I'm just making a list of what to spend the $500 first prize money on! I'm so looking forward to a few days fishing with the boys! Let's hope the weather plays ball. Cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Here is the link to the dpi website..... http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fishing/recreational/fishing-rules-and-regs I think there are rules on the amount of cunjivoi you can collect., Targeting salmon from the beach would work with any fresh strips of fish on a gang hook. I've never thrown sp's or lures at night. Sorry can't help there. A good option for you would be to buy some whole mullet from a fish shop and strip bait it. Very cheap atm. Also collecting beach worms would be the go to bait this time of year for winter bream and jew. Off the stones, depending what you are targeting, bread is as good as anything! Even cheaper to make your own dough! Life jackets you want a PDF type1. You can get them pretty cheap and very comfortable these days. Hope that helps! Cheers scratchie!!!
  18. Hi budzsta, Collecting bait is all about what you are targeting! There's some great advice above and some good options for a variety of fish! Sp's and hard bodies are certainly another option and are reusable in most cases. It's also a very active way of fishing. So it maybe worth the effort to research that area of fishing! When starting out I would recommend targeting Flatty first and you'll be surprised by some of your bycatch. Don't be afraid to ask questions on sp fishing either! Cheers scratchie!!!
  19. Nice to see things are going well for you Sean! But I'm going to have to take your title at the hairtail social next weekend! You deserved it last year after remembering what you guys went through to get there! Stay safe! Cheers scratchie!!!
  20. Nice Andrew! Fishing is a pleasure anyway but don't you love when you get a new rod and reel, and it just feels great to use compared to your previous gear. Great fish! Cheers scratchie!!!
  21. Nice addition there junior! You are certainly more dedicated than me! It was pouring rain and to see you and your mate fishing in your wetsuits was something I haven't seen before! Crazy! Congrats Cheers scratchie!!!
  22. Oh good it's come down a bit! Two days ago it was forecast for 8 metres!
  23. We are just getting the bad weather out the way now, so that our hairtail social will be beautiful, warm, clear water and plenty of fish! Here's to optimism! Cheers scratchie!!!
  24. Nothing wrong with buying a nice bit of tuna! It looks delicious
