  1. I'll sell you as much as you want! Only joking The only place I know is the co-op. There are two suppliers there. Try both! They normally have them. Cheers scratchie!!!
  2. Cheers dom! Best time of year to fish Port! All plastics mate but I do know a few people who use that technique when their desperate. And guess what? It worked
  3. Great video mate. Good effort without the gimble but nice to see commonsense prevail. There dirty fighters those kings! It's always humbling to be railed by a good fish, it's when I smile the most! Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. Sorry, I tucked in before I thought to take a photo! Yummm!
  5. I'm not sure what everyone else was doing for dinner, but the poor people were eating beer battered snapper!
  6. Welcome to Fishraider lyons90! Maybe try the search option on this site. It has lots of info on many places that might get you started. Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Glad you had a good time up here! Shoal bay is certainly productive this time of year. The first photo is a blind shark and the second a numb ray! Cheers scratchie!!! P.s don't touch the numb ray!
  8. Thanks mate. No rest for the wicked! Started work at midnight nearly finished though! Lots of drifting and casting and eventually you find them!
  9. So for those of you interested, this comp is run every year between shoal bay fishing club (hosts of Tbft) and fingal bay fishing club. Apparently, we haven't lost to fingal in 20 years and today was no different. Between the 3 of us yesterday we weighed in 30kg of clean snapper! Dinners sorted for a few nights!
  10. That's why stewy is a great mentor, good fisherman and top bloke. In any order you choose! Well done Tara. There should also be an award for putting up with stewy all day, trust me I know! Great report guys! Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Just put them on the lie detector. My biggest two were a pigeon pair at 75cm
  12. It's a great day and all involved are very giving of their time and knowledge. I'm no expert, as per stewys comment above but I do know how to use them to effect and it was a direct result of the day I attended.
  13. Great stuff James! Always enjoy catching fish off a beach. Haven't done that for a while but soon with the mullet run, jew will be around in numbers. So might be time to give it a go! Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. Cheers guys! We were using mostly 3/8-1/2 jigs. The sp's were nemisis, shads and squid vicious all in various colors. There was a lot of bait and current lines. The water was very clear, so we found that using slightly heavier ment most fish were caught on the drop and were hit hard. Most were also caught on the rear drop off of the structure we were fishing!
  15. Yes mate all plastics. They would have been bigger if it wasn't strictly lure fishing only
  16. Cheers Neil. It would be between that range. We didn't measure as the comp is based on weight. We should be a chance as a team but there's some real good fishos up here and you never know what they are going to weigh in!
  17. G'day raiders, I managed another leave pass today and headed north of broughton with two fellow fishing club members. It was our annual snapper classic vs another local club. We worked hard all day for our fish and some decent ones at that. Between us we managed 14 up to 8kg. Most were caught early evening and late arvo. All on various sp's in 15-30m of water. I scored 5 myself. Sorry about the quality of the second photo but it was a long day and the best I could do! Tight lines, Cheers scratchie!!!
  18. Cheers Steve. It depends obviously on conditions but it's 14km from the headland. Generally between 20-30min. Although the other day on a glass out and tail winds, it took me about 10mins at 35knots!
  19. Yes. This time of year, find the bait, find the fish!
  20. No but they make excellent crab bait!
  21. G'day raiders, Just a quick report from the bay. Went out today with the eldest and his mate for a quick fish, as the wind was making things a bit choppy. The plan was to head to broughton but we didn't even get out the heads and there were slimies busting up everywhere. Caught a couple and decided to slowly troll them around Tomaree headland. We found a huge school around the point and we worked that area away from all the other boats. We had quite a few takes that resulted in no hook ups which was frustrating but after looking at our dead slimie we decided to pin it through the back and not the nose and that worked a treat. The next take came up tight. I fought the fish for sometime but decided to hand it to my sons friend as he'd never fought a fish that size before. After some good runs and a worthy battle up comes a nice mac tuna! We were really hoping for a longtail but it was great to see the smile on the boys faces as they heard the line peel off. Thanks for reading! Cheers scratchie!!!
  22. Great effort mate! What else would you do if the GF has her friends over! I hope my wife has her friends over this weekend! Lol Cheers scratchie!!!
  23. Congrats Andrew! Looking at the card, thank god for GPS ay! Cheers scratchie!!!
  24. My suggestion would be to head out the seaway about 3km and start trolling. One deep diver and one skirt. All the while you can sound out the bottom for structure. Alternatively, you could jump on a half day charter and use their marks or ask as many questions as you can! Lots of spotted mac, Spanish, trag and snapper up there! Cheers scratchie!!!
  25. Looking at your photo I'm thinking your at north rock. A great spot for bonito and kings. You are right in saying that you need to hit the island early before the n/e winds kick in. The snapper are everywhere around the island but the most productive area is south of where you are. Welcome to Fishraider and you picked a beautiful place to fish and place your first report! Cheers scratchie!!!
