  1. I think a few of us did but I'm not admitting to anything!
  2. Yep, looks painful. Well done on the fish. I'm confused, which mullet are you entering for cotm? The one on the tray or the big one with the hook in its finger? Lol Good luck on your next outing! Cheers scratchie!!!
  3. Great work fellas. That's a killer boat des has. Swordy reclaims his record ay? The last time it didn't last that long, let's see what happens this time! Well done guys! Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. If you are catching shovel nose and cat fish that tells me your baits are anchored on the bottom. Always fish the bay with bait a meter off it. That will keep the pests away! The wreck and fame cove produce jewfish all year round. The wreck 2hrs before low-low and fame cove 30mins either side of high tide are you best chances. Especially if it coincides with a low light period! Cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Agree, and that is my intention. Larger fish see the pickers nibbling away and want some of the action!
  6. Great report and congrats on your first jew. Don't be to upset about losing a king to the breakwall. I've seen many angler do the same thing! Glad I could help you out in some way. Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Good to see so many young about! It's just a shame the little buggers steal your bait and you don't get a chance at a good fish. It's pretty much the same throughout the bay up here too! When this happens, I up the size of the hook and the bait. Action creates action and it pays off sometimes! Cheers scratchie!!!

    Have you tried?

All require massive effort, that is why they are a last resort option. I've had to paddle a mates boat that the motor broke 50m from the ramp and he never put the bungs in. Night from hell! Last year took the wife out to the fad wanting to get her a mahi. First drift turned off the motor and we hook up to a nice fish. Went to start it again to take it away from the fad and no start. She dropped the fish and I couldn't start the boat. Two boats out there and neither seen us waving for help. I'm not a mechanics bumhole but I remembered seeing the pull start under the cowling, so with a last ditch effort before ringing marine rescue, I undid the cover, plastic protective cover all in a rolling swell and gave it a pull and it started. Much to the relief of my panicked wife. We headed straight for home. Ended up being a dry starter motor. This thread is a great reminder to have as many options available to you to get you out of trouble as well as all the safety gear you need. You never know when your going to need it! Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. Great write up and what a fantastic capture. Unfortunately, with blue marlin they will fight to the death, hence the nature of their fight! But as swordy said, you gave the fish respect. So well done to you both! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. It's great to see Fishraider moving with the times! Yet another reason why we are the best fishing site in Australia! Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Well done to you both. It's great to see father and son out fishing! Nice work jani! Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. No matter what site you go to, they are only a rough estimate. On the weekend there seemed to be a lot of ground swell about the inshore but when you got past that, the swell seemed on par! Just my observations. Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. Congrats on the fish! No on the pizza. I've done that for a few years especially whilst chasing jew at night! Gives you an added incentive to keep waiting!
  14. Luderick are refered to as blackfish. Black drummer are called black drummer because you can also catch silver drummer.
  15. You gotta do the miles to get the smiles! Looks like a nice day on the water anyway Steve! Sounds like the trip was a good confidence builder for you. There's always next time mate! Cheers scratchie!!!
  16. Welcome to Fishraider tackleberry! Feel free to add a bit of info on yourself if you wish! Cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Yeah there about mate. Plenty at the sisters and try north rock where I took you and you caught that horse bream. Plenty of kings there but use livies and heavy gear with drag tight! Burley hard! Cheers scratchie!!! Ps. Weather looks good just watch for a storm late this arvo
  18. Agh raider therapy! Sorry for your loss xsite. I'm sure we've all donated some quality gear to the world beneath. Be it lures, tackle or rod and reel. Whilst it really hurts on the return journey there are plenty of shops to get your mojo back! Cheers scratchie!!!
  19. Some great advice above. But you don't need expensive gear to catch fish. One of our members yowie catches most of his quality fish on a handline! BCF has a great entry shimano sienna combo. You'll need...... 1 x 2500 reel and 2-4kg rod 6-8lb braid 1 x 4000 reel and 4-8kg rod 15-20lb braid You should be able to pick this up for under $200 in total. Look after them and they'll serve you well. As you become more experienced, you'll understand what our members are talking about. Cheers scratchie!!!
  20. Sounds like a great weekend away James! Isn't great to get the weekend off with a few mates and just "fish". Your fishing has certainly come along way over the past 12 months and I'm really enjoying your reports. Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  21. Great stuff grant. Looks like a top weekend away! And wasn't nice of stewy to leave you a present, that's raider spirit! Cheers scratchie!!!
  22. Intern1, I've moved your post as it is not a report. A post like this is for the "fishing chat" section. Cheers scratchie!!!
  23. Good on you mate! Persistence pays off. Sorry about the sisters. I hadn't even looked over that side. Lol. When we headed for home and past there I thought, gees that was a bit slack sending you there! But your right, never cross my drift! Lol
  24. I seen you at the presentation, you were standing in front of me with your two mates! Great weekend though!
