Plenty of roads closed up here. A lot of people have lost a lot. My house was boarder on flooding but was averted. The SES dug a trench to avoid anymore houses in our street from being flooded (2 already)
But my family is safe although we are pretty much house bound!

That road will be closed for several weeks, I think, so I’ll have to go the long way around. No short cuts! 😂Incidentally, that road and causeway were not installed by council apparently. The road never joined up until landowners on either side built the small causeway and put a rough road over it. So I’m told anyway.
Good idea re the bottled water. We have a plumbed fridge with ice maker and water dispenser. Would the filter handle that brown water do you reckon? I assume the ice cubes I currently have in my whiskey were made earlier in the day...? 🤷♂️At least you’ve got another excuse not to go fishing Baz! 🤣🤣🤣
I dare say, the fishing will be shut down up here for the next few weeks.
We’ve had two house completely flooded in our street. My house averted disaster by about an hour!
Not looking forward to the next couple of days, with the forecast peaking on Saturday. Let’s hope their wrong as usual 🤔

The fish have definitely shut down this week. The water up here 19.2 has turned over and very cold compared to last week. (24.4)
I find when that happens suddenly they get lock jaw. But you still managed something for the table champ! With all this rain it might be a while before it fires up again!

Well if you had a nice boat like that you could easily do some chartering work for Marlin, but that would be a pretty big pay cut although it would keep you out of prison 😁
You don’t earn anything in prison!

great to hear your mate picked up a Spanish Mackerel 😎, bet that went down a treat & they hang around for a while longer 🤞
Cheers mate! Hell of a session. I’ll take that any day. Spanish Mack make the best fish burgers ever!

Thanks for the post @mrsswordfisherman
This will give you a little background on me and also some information on safe boating from my perspective.
And yes @Yowie I have used a handline and did for a number of years as a kid because that’s all I could afford. As the passion grew, so did the expenses and I wouldn’t change a single thing!

Can you send some of those fish down south to Shitney please
Haha! Thanks Sam. Spanish mack burgers tonight my favourite.

Thanks Gordo. I do put a lot of time and effort into catching them.

Thanks Bob. Love choppy conditions for snapper. Then obviously the other fish are competing too! Makes for a good session 🤙

So many different species you have caught at Boughton maybe a Cobia will jump on the line for you there soon.
Thanks champ! I’ve lost so many fish in the last 3 trips too. One of them was bound to be a cobia! 😩 One day 💪

Thanks Toby. 23.8 degrees on the day. Hoping this N/E doesn’t roll the water over!

Shady camp is an epic spot and that’s a cracking fish! I was blown away how the tide works there. On low tide the sea side looks like a baron wasteland.
Thanks for the report and keep them coming. I love the NT!

Good stuff , one of those years when they come a long way down! staying connected when you dont have wire is the tricky bit!
Thanks Paddy. Yes pretty unbelievable he never got bitten off but it was hooked perfectly on the corner of the jaw and he maintained constant pressure. Guess you win some sometimes. Cause over the last 3 trips gees we’ve lost some good fish!

Great work there Scratchie. Sounds like one of those unbelievable days, when things look crap, BUT, everything falls into place.
Great bag of fish again, good feeds coming up, with a bonus spanish. 👍
Cheers Yowie! It was the perfect crap weather for catching fish. My ideal conditions for the island and the fish turned it on! 🤙

Looks like a fun day out in Scratchie land
Both KC. Catching a Spanish on a plastic at Broughton Island would be a very rare club!

Haha! You’d have to fight my whole family first 🤣
41 minutes ago, Berleyguts said:Another great report, Jeff! You do put in the effort! 😎 I was hoping to head out tomorrow but it looks like it’ll be blowing 17-20 knots from the NE.... and that’s the end of my holidays! 🤷♂️
It was supposed to blow that this morning. I just made the decision that I’m going no matter what! The island is on fire Baz, get up there!
