Great job mr. Groper! You certainly did have your own social. They're a great fish to target and by the looks of dinner they went down a treat!

A great place to start is a book called "Hooked"
You can buy it in most newsagents for around $25.
It will show you many spots to fish and what you catch there. It's my bible!
It also explains techniques, bait needed, rigs etc!
Good luck and tight lines!

Luv to hear how you go with it Scratchie, Im bordering on dipping a paddle in the water, just need to understand how the effort versus reward equation pans out.
Cheers Blood Knot
Hey blood knot,
I'm keen to find out too! One of my mates up here is right into it and he's pulled some great fish out. He's promised to take me to a special spot where he got a 55cm bass. Only accessible in a yak! So fingers crossed I do more fishing than swimming!

Just bought one today online. The price was negotiable but paid $369. This comes with all the extras, back support, 5 rod holders etc.
I know this is bottom of the range but I'm an absolute novice and figured that even if its not the best, I can learn and the 4 kids can then have fun with it.
Also because I'm a tad lazy, in couple of weeks will be fitting a mincota to it as well.
Will let you know how I go with the fishing on it!
So watch this space kayak crew!

That's awesome! We should all do what we can to help others, but sometimes we are such caught up in our own world that we forget others exist!
Good on ya! Will do the same the next time I see someone in trouble!

I think Scratchie and Shroom killed them all. I do believe that they are once again extinct.
That is what Diesel and I did in the social... It was pretty damn good fun hehehe.
Luc, we did make the hairtail extinct and we also drank all the whiskey! Well I did anyway.

Awesome report ray with great pics! There is something special about seeing pics off the stones! I'm more excited about rock fishing everytime I see it and do it! Congrats!

Haven't heard of any since the last cracking session me and nbdshroom had! Hope we didn't catch them all. Lol.
However, they should still be around but I don't think in the numbers they were a few weeks ago!

To be broad, a multitude of problems but the main concerns include brain damage and organ failure (kidney, lungs etc.). This depends on the exposure and type (elemental, salt or organic). The mercury interferes with a trace essential element (selenium) which is present in enzymes that help to restore the antioxidant properties (i.e. reduction) of antioxidants (e.g. vit C) that prevent oxidation (i.e. damage) inside cells. Once you take that out, oxidative damage can occur over time without a means of reversal and as oxygen use is the highest in the brain, then basically your brain and its function erodes away over time! There are a number of diseases brought on by increased mercury poisoning which pretty much lump together the symptoms if I am not mistaken.
I'll take your word Pete! Mercury in fish, will cause problems but you need to catch em before you can eat em! Lol
Haven't seen a report for a while big fella???

OK so pm is "personal message"? I went to my page in members section but can't see any message?
It's there. Top right hand corner, there should be a red flag. Click on it.

OK have some marks now from 10m to 80m deep, do you just drift around these or is there a maximum depth you would anchor too taking weather into consideration? Boat is more suited to outer reefs as 45', any tips?
Hi mate,
I've sent you a pm that you have not read yet. It has a wealth of information in it. Might just get your answers.
