  1. Hi Dave,

Predator and I went for a fish at nepean yesterday. Another mate put his kayak in at devlin and went down past Yarramundi and back and didn't get a single bite.

I was thinking about getting a kayak/getting the wife to buy me one for xmas. I was looking at two of the online stores and saw a couple around the $400.00 range. Would you recommend buying one of these for your first kayak.

    Cheers

    Matt

Don't won't to hijack, but those kayaks for the online store are magic! I too, just bought one and recommend them as value for money!

Dave, great report and its a great way to spend some time one the water. The fish will come, just get used to the yak!!!

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  2. Well I think my excellent bream and top Ep were very underated if I do say so myself.

I have been told all my life that size doesn't matter :drunk: I guess that was a lie :ranting2:

Lol.... It's not the size. It's the force behind it!!!
  3. G'day raiders,

I've been blessed enough to get the last 3 days to fish the bay.

First trip, I took a fellow raider out simmo2 and his partner for a great day on the water. Nothing worth mentioning other than a big ray that took to simmos line. It was as least good to his his rod bent. I managed a few smallish bream on live nippers. But was really wanting that Jew to show up.

The next day went for a flick with my mate and christened my new yak and managed a few tailor and a pike a SP's and was pretty excited.

Just to prove it was no fluke I hit the water today, and what a gorgeous day it was!

Using only SP's again I managed to get myself amongst the fish again. First was an ok size flathead.

Now feeling a bit more confident I took my little mate with me. He loved it on the water and was my lucky charm as I then caught a flounder. This is definitely a first for me.

Then I changed to a Berkley gulp nuclear chicken which resulted in a whiting, yet another first.

All fish were released, ready to fight another day!

Rather than take the yak off the car with a wonderful afternoon it was, my wife and I picked the kids up from school and thought we'd give them a go of the yak!

Well, within 15mins they had caught all three species I did but on a mixture of bait and SP's

So, sitting back here now sipping a quiet ale, watching the boys still out there fishing, I'm thinking what a magic place I live in!!

As for fishing with SP's, I'm now convinced they can actually catch fish. So I have to thank nbdshroom for his constant reminder and never wavering persistence that I should try SP fishing.

    Thanks for reading!

  4. Mate that is fantastic Jeff! Good way to christen the new cooked tiger prawn-coloured yak. :sun: All the better for you to sneak up on unsuspecting fish! Looking forward to more of your future exploits on bait and lures.

    Cheers

    Pete

    Cheers Pete,

Took out a fellow raider today simmo2 and caught about the same on bait! Hmmmm.

Must be the name simmo! Lol

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  5. Just a quick report from the maiden voyage on a kayak I bought last week.

Only took it out for an hour, but managed 2 nice size tailor around 30cm and 1 smelly old pike.

I used 1/4 jig head and berkley gulp in pumpkin seed. Was a unique experience not taking bait with me at all. At from a yak made it even more special. A great hours entertainment. Sorry, no pics on fish, I didn't want to risk it!

  6. Just went for my maiden voyage on the kayak I bought on the post above!

Went better than expected and I managed to stay dry!!!

It was also the first time I've never taken bait with me. Was throwing SP's on 1/4 jig berkley pumpkin and managed 2 tailor at about 30cm and 1 smelly old pike!

Sorry, no pics as I wasn't keen to risk the iPhone.

    Tight lines all.

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  7. Weekend Warrior ????, I do my 70hrs a week, If the weekend is the only time I get to go to Browns...........well I'm one of them. I'm not as lucky as most that can fish when ever they want. Isn't it about limits and conservation. If you get 71 on the weekend and 200 throughout the week over the other 5 days of the week, isn't that the same! Bag limits! That's what they are there for. Can't control how many people Bag out. FYI......I take 1.

I agree diamondback! It should all be about conservation and limits. Good luck to the rec fisho/weekend warrior that spends his hard earn on licenses, petrol, bait, electric reel etc and has the ability to fish at browns! Hope he catches what he is looking for, as long as he stays within the limits! Be it on the weekend or not!

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  8. I use the same app and love it. You will still catch fish on low efficiency days but you're almost guaranteed to do better on the good days - all based on solunar which has been proven for many years. Find a day with 100% efficiency and a high tide at sunset / sunrise and you're in for a cracker session!

I just bought this app and love it!!! Layout really easy to use!

What a shame it's still blowing 35km+ the efficiency for today is 100%.

    Cheers scratchie!!!

    P.s it's $5.49 now

  9. Not long to go.

    Time to play catch up...

Yep im trying! Who can pick it??? Not me but one thing I know is the tigers will be better off without benji. Maybe we'll avoid the wooden spoon!

    Cheers scratchie!!!
