  1. Looks awesome nursie! Shane about the fish but I know what u mean by losing track of time, 4hrs goes really quick. Hope to rig the water snake I bought and fish finder this week! Lookout Saturday!!!

    Cheers scratchie!!!

P.s spent the day at the hunter for Father's Day!

The wife obeyed and drove home. Lol

  2. Hi ollie,

I'm no expert and have just started collecting gear myself for the upcoming season. From the advise I've been given, your 50w with 24kg is the go! I picked up a tyrnos 50 spooled with 24kg last year for about $400 and it got results! As for lures or skirts, check out the scent blazer collection from this site.

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  3. I was going to purchase one for my boat about a year ago and was talked out of it by the salesman. He said the dsi was not up to scratch if you are fishing in a stationary position as it bounces off its own sonar and is only good to 61m. But if its for a hobby and you don't venture to far offshore, mate I see no reason why it wouldn't work fine.

    Hope that helps!

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  4. Hey crusher,

Latest report I have was last Friday.......

Those fishing Almark have done ok on the Kings but its the bottom fish that have really surprised. Theres been a mixture of anything from John Dory to Long finned sea perch to Gemfish. Most anglers are bringing home a feed from the long run. Judging by the water temperature charts there should be a few Tuna wide of the mountain around 5-10 miles east. I have heard of Albacore and Yellowfin caught by the long liners.

    Hope that helps!

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  5. Oi... Good to see you are getting into the plastics bud! It is great fishing and you can constantly move around. How did the yak go? I am seriously looking at investing in one.

Thanks luc. The yak is awesome and I'm going to buy another one so the mrs can use and then I have even more excuses to go fishing. As for the sp's, I'm getting there. The biggest positive so far is coming home without smelly hands. :)
  6. Wonderful stuff Scratchie!!

Nice photos, beautiful weather .... looks like you are in paradise there!!

What a great way to relax with the family and friends.

Good on you for persisting with SP's. As mentioned it gives you some more options out on the water.

Congratulations on the new yak as well.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Ian

Ahhhhh paradise it is! For me, it's all about family and being on the water! So if I can combine the two gives me the chance to wet a line! The yak is a great relaxing way to spend time on the water! And a great novelty for the kids. Win, win in my books!

  7. That first photo is amazing, would look great blown up large and hung on the wall.

Nice report too, I'm also still a bit of a novice at SP's I like to give them a try and do catch the odd fish but when I see the people I'm with catching more on bait I always switch back

It is an amazing place! I'm the same on the sp scenario! But if you persist, you will get the feel, hence catch more fish. I think bait and SP's have a time and place to use them! The beauty is you decide!

  8. Just wanted to say a massive thankyou to Jeff from me and the girlfriend. An absolute gentleman taking us out on his boat for a beautiful day on the water. People like him and this site should be commended for bringing together such a friendly community of fisher people.

Couldn't have asked for a nicer day or more pleasant company!

    Thanks a million matey,

    Simmo

No problem simmo! Was great meeting you and carol too!

It was a nice day on the water, ashame the big boys didn't come out to play but there was no lack of trying! That's fishing!!!

I've taken many a raider out and it's always a pleasure. Great company with the same goal in mind. Till next time, tight lines

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  9. Mate, Jeff you are killing it on the SPs! I was hoping you would get bitten by the SP bug because it opens up a whole new world of fishing. Always good to have options whether bait or lures when out fishing. You got some good fish too. good to see a couple of 'fatheads' amongst it :biggrinthumb: And just so you know, I've never caught a flounder on SP before so good stuff!

Thanks Pete! Don't get to excited. I thought it was much easier to throw SP's from a yak than bait up every time. And to be honest I did enjoy it. I must admit, without the feedback from this site especially you, I wouldn't have a clue where to start. But I think I've got the basics now!
