  1. Oh the pain!!!! For the record, he fought two different fish for a total of 1 hour and 20 mins. The fish landed weighed on the scales 15kg!
  2. G’day raiders, Well, after the catastrophic weather over the last week, it was finally time to hit Broughton Island and make up for last weekends inability to get there! Got up with jnr nice and early with the forecast looking like perfect conditions! 1.2-1.3m south swell and 6-8knot westerly, hopes were high of landing a few good snaps! Got to our mark and no one in sight. Start the drift and the boy comes up tight to a nice snaps and gets done on the reef. Oh well, plenty more where that came from. We keep casting and he’s on again! This time getting absolutely smoked on his 3000 Sedona until we see it come up high and make a run on the surface! As the backing appeared we decide to chase it and knowing it’s a longtail. He worked this fish over for well over 1/2 an hour until the leader gave in. Reset a new drift and first cast bang, jnr is on again! This time big big headshakes, followed by a massive run and then another on the surface! Another bloody longtail. This time we let the whole battle play out and happy to say we landed it with the first gaff shot! The area was ruined by now as we had to drive and chase this fish with the young fella still using the 3000. He absolutely played it to perfection! We then moved around a fair bit only getting a few pannies. The conditions were so calm, with no drift, no wind, no current and super clear water didn’t help our cause! But overall, watching your son get stretched on a fish like that well and truly made my day! Gear: shimano Sedona 3000 shimano sonic pro 4-7kg 15lb fins braid and 20lb blackmagic leader. 1/4 5/0 jig and gulp 7inch pink shine. Thanks for reading, Cheers scratchie!!!

  10. It’s not always about the results Luke, it’s the journey that matters! And I’m sure everyone that went fishing would agree “Mother Nature” got the better of us all.
  11. It will happen. You’ve now established new connections. You have new areas to target. You have a member willing to share his vessel in exchange for accommodation! It’s now only a matter of a collaborative day off and you have your guide! ✅ Pleasure to meet you champ! Cheers scratchie!!!

  15. And that’s a wrap!!! The clear winner of the weekend was Mother Nature who kicked our ass and showed us who’s boss! Although, in true fishraider spirit, there was still some members that fronted up and had a go and made the most of what was nearly unfishable conditions. I take my hat off to you guys and promise all of you that the next time you are in the area, you have a personal guide for the day! (You now have my number). Many thanks also go to one of our endeared members @frankS for offering prizes (which we agreed next time) turning up to all our meets and even turning up to the ramp early morning to wish us all the best, even though he wasn’t fishing due to health reasons! What an absolute champion! I hope you get well soon mate and it would be my pleasure to get out fishing with you sometime! Thanks again Frank!!! Also thanks to @the skipper who provided the flags which made our boats indentifiable from a distance and is certainly something we’ll do again in the future! We all agreed that this is something we would like to do again but next time hopefully we can get offshore and chase our target. (Maybe an annual event) So, Once again thank you to all that turned up over the weekend either for our Friday night meet and greet to the brave ones that fished over the weekend! True Fishraiders!!! @frankS @61 crusher @kingie chaser @blaxland @Ojay Samson And family @Peter Nelson @garfield28 And son @back cruncher @Woodsy1 @maveric0_3@farcanary @scratchie_junior619 Cheers scratchie!!!
