  2. Cheers guys! It was a fun afternoon. Came home and made a nice feed of fresh beer battered whiting. Went down a treat! Cheers scratchie!!!
  3. Nice work Rick! Something different ay! Did the same thing myself this arvo but chased whiting! Still prefer to be out snapper fishing though! Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. G’day raiders, Just a quick report from up here today. With offshore fishing not an option and the kids on school holidays, I thought it would be fun to go and pump some nippers before midday and then go fish the same area later in the arvo around high tide. Well it didn’t take long to land a few. Junior came up trumps though and landed this stonker of a whiting over the 40cm mark. It was a nice change of pace and a pleasant afternoon by the water! @BabySharkDooDooDoo Definately plenty out there. This was caught in your area! Cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Firstly, welcome to fishraider! You won’t find many sand whiting this time of year within the bay mainly on the ocean beaches! Pumping nippers at corlette, Taylor’s beach or at soldiers point is certainly an option and a free way to collect bait. As baz said, you can fish the same areas on a full tide. The main whiting you will catch is trumpeter whiting which have no legal size limit and are plentiful throughout the bay! Wanda headland, corlette, Taylor’s beach or any of the beaches at soldiers will produce these whiting. Just use a running size 2 sinker, then a swivel, a 30cm trace and a long shank hook. Cast out and then every now and then wind in half a meter. This will entice the bite. You should find plenty in those areas! Cheers scratchie!!! P.s cooked prawns work fine just cut them in small pieces.
  6. Nice work yowie! That’s a cracking flatty. And a good feed as well. Fishing hasn’t seemed to have slowed down that much yet! Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Nice! Great fighting fish the old humble salmon! Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. When it’s like that and if there’s not too much current, drop your leader and jighead size. You also need super long casts which is hard if there’s no wind present. Or switch to bait which might entice the bite! It’s very hard to outsmart the buggers! Too add, if those conditions are present during a full moon period, either stay at home or go whale watching!
  9. Good to see you fellas hook up and get out there. Very tough fishing when the water is super clear if you soft plastics fishing. At least you didn’t come back with a donut! Happy Birthday Woodsy! Hope you enjoy your Greek dinner! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. Haha bloody oath you are! If your going snapper fishing, I’m leaving the ramp at 5am minimum! Haha. First light is the best period to target them. But you got a nice bag there Sam, well done. A shame about the phone! Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Awesome stuff Jeremy! Nothing like performing under pressure on a tight deadline! Well done 👍 cheers scratchie!!!
  12. You were always going to get smoked by a good king on that outfit Pete! I still Ioved watching it though! Haha 😂 cheers scratchie!!!
  13. Yeah, there was heaps for last 3 weeks and some big ones too! Woodsy wouldn’t have seen them as he hasn’t been out for 3 months 😝
  14. Haha! Was never good at maths! But 1.proper 2.preparation 3. Prevents 4.piss 5. Poor 6. Performance! I’m sure that’s 6??? 🤔
  15. It’s been a while since you posted plummo! Good to see you still out there having a go! Sounds like a great day and night! Cheers scratchie!!!
  16. Good to see you. It’s getting stuck into them! It must be cold 🥶Nice hat Josh! 😝 cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Giddy up Woodsy! Good to see you get your weapon back! I could see your face beaming as I drive to the ramp! A pretty spot on report of day! There was that many changes of sps, the bait board looked like a kids art and craft table! Although the fishing was pretty slow, we did fairly well with a few good sized fish and missed a few opportunities! The current was running so hard downhill our usual go to spot wasn’t holding bait! But we moved around and for a half day effort not bad! Heard the bite was good late afternoon, so that might explain why we needed so many casts! Until next time thanks champ! Cheers scratchie!!!
  18. Good stuff Luke! Great to see you giving the sps a go! It takes a while to get the hang of it but it’s a very active way of fishing for them. If you are encountering bakers, that means your in the right area! Most common bycatch of targeting snapper with sps! Well done! Cheers scratchie!!!
  19. Cheers Luke! The leader failed from the constant grind on the teeth. Unlike fishing with circle hooks, catching a tuna on soft plastics, the fish will swallow it and setting the hook doesn’t always result in the corner of the jaw! This will cause the leader to chafe every time it changes direction! Cheers scratchie!!!
  20. Thanks champ! He’s definitely a younger version of me but a better angler!
  21. Nice work Joe! Always rewarding loading up on a yak! Makes all the paddling worth while! Well done 👍 cheers scratchie!!!
  22. Never seen them so thick up here! He was well and truly buggered! Fair effort though! Thanks Ollie! It sure was! Tbh, didn’t think it was possible! Thanks Donna! Wonder where he got that from! Lol 😝 Cheers Pete!
  23. True that mate! After a very frustrating week, we were going out today no matter what! No snapper about really but watching the boy land this ripper and his first longtail was amazing!
  24. Cheers Pete! Sorry mate, tried to message you back but having phone issues! Yep, sashimi with a beer this arvo! Yum 😋
  25. Thanks mate! Cheers Baz Water was way too calm for my liking yowie! No run, no fun! Except for the young fella Cheers Couldn’t believe we landed it. Must have taught him well. Cheers rick! No rod? Not a tru fisherman then! 😝 Cheers Sam! He was spent. All my longtail have been on a 6000 reel or bigger! Only someone that has caught a 15kg plus longtail can appreciate the effort he put in! Very proud of my little mate!
