  1. Great stuff B1. I was waiting for a report! A very few solid snaps indeed! What did the biggest go? Certainly enough for a few feeds anyway! Glad Jamie could break your drought! Cheers scratchie!!!
  2. Unlucky on the kings but nothing wrong with a 50cm snaps! Solo trips are always the worst at the ramp but once on the water, all is forgotten until the first view of the ramp on return! At least you got out there! cheers scratchie!!!
  3. That’s what it’s all about Fab! Often the fish are a bonus! Enjoy the lighter crowds! Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. Didn’t see a soul all day! How did you go?
  5. Yes mate! Only place I can find them at the moment. A lot of complaining locals can’t find them either!
  6. Thanks Sam. Not completely. I’m just more stubborn than they are!
  7. Haha, the jackets must love you Jon! Not one bycatch for me today!
  8. Cheers Sam! It had me worried a few times. Once near the prop as it ran under the boat and I could feel it grinding the jighead. Always nervous moments! Just nice to be back out there again!
  9. Exactly!!! Never get sick of whales breaching, dolphins riding the bow wave or just hanging with a mate on the water!
  10. New favourite lure baz. Either a zman or gulp in camo pearl! Natural colours seemed to work best today! Water was good at Broughton. Cold but not too clear!
  11. It was a bit of a struggle today mate! But I’ve had some cracking sessions there too! Just right time, right place!
  12. Not Broughton and not deep! Seal rocks mate, long trip up there!
  13. Epic recount of trip Derek. Nice work on the kings and good to see them get shared around!!! Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. G’day raiders, Headed out this morning with mate and fellow raider @Woodsy1. It’s been a while since the both of us have been out. We were keen and left early. Pitch black and some fog about it took a while to get to our destination, all the while being mindful of the migrating whales. Got to our spot at first light and began to throw sps! Very little wind, swell and current. It took a while for the first fish but Woodsy came up tight and landed a decent 45cm snaps. Next was my turn and I’ll boated a healthy 55cm one. We moved a few spots with the drift and wind changing every time making it hard to hit the mark. We changed locations again but now the wind was up and helped a consistent drift. We drifted straight over some bait and boom! I came up tight to a thumping red that gave a good account of itself. Some manoeuvring around the boat was needed but a well netted snaps was now onboard going 75cm. I then realised that it was Woodsy’s lure I borrowed, his boat and he netted the fish for me! How rude! But what a champ he is! We made our way back and hit a few other spots for one snaps at 35cm released. Then cruises back at 30 knots in sublime conditions! Yet another great trip and great company and I’m not talking about the whales, dolphins or scenery. Thanks Woodsy! Cheers scratchie!!!
  15. Nice work Pete! I’m yet to venture to SWR but I always see some good fishing come from there! Glad you had a good day out! Cheers scratchie!!!
  16. I’ve caught many from the same beach up here up to 35kg! As JonD said, not the best fighting fish. I released all mine as I assumed they are protected but not a good quality fish either! But I was informed that they are protected from spearing, boat but not land based. I will check it out and report back. Cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Do you intend to keep them?
  18. From my understanding you can NOT catch them from a boat only land based. But please check with the dpi rules first. Here is a link to assist you! https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/375966/Wobbegong-Sharks.pdf cheers scratchie!!!
  19. Sounds like a very scenic trip Jeff. I agree, no iPads etc on my boat either!! Cheers scratchie!!!
  20. Unlucky baz! At least you got out. It’s been a while for me too! And don’t feel bad, Broughton has been a massive struggle for all over the past 3-4 weeks. When it’s like that and little current, try fishing deeper like the V, 21 and Air Force reefs. Cheers scratchie!!!
  21. I was in a 20ft Edgewater glass boat! Best boat for a following sea I’ve been in. Coming in was never an issue but going out in 2m swell and 30 knot winds wasn’t the smartest idea!
  22. Unlucky Rick! Broughton has been a struggle the last two weeks. I was up there last Monday and couldn’t find a fish either. The water temp then was 16.5 at best. Your keen getting out in that rubbish. It’s looking good for this week. Hopefully I can get out sometime soon and find them! Cheers scratchie!!!
  23. Nothing wrong with the question Fishnhunt! Hopefully someone can provide the member with some information on the area! Cheers scratchie!!!
  24. Welcome to fishraider!!! Always nice to open the account with a good fishing report! Well done cheers scratchie!!!
