  1. Stuey, I feel your pain when a knot gives way. On the bright side, you were able to find quality tailor and get one for the table.
  2. It's always interesting seeing a familiar face on the water. You don't see too many paddle-propelled boat fisherman these days. It looks like the leatherjacket is ready to be livebaited.
  3. Definitely a feel good factor in this report. Always nice to see kids having a go and if they catch fish, all the better.
  4. Top report from what looks to be an awesome trip. Nice mixed bag on all sorts of lures/traps. Stubbornness can get the best of anyone haha.
  5. Bad luck on the flatty mate. At least you had a great trip on the kayak. Looking forward to your future reports.
  6. Congratulations gold member. Thoroughly deserved.
  7. A timely reminder to please be mindful of the site rules. If you have a non-sponsor suggestion, you may choose to send a PM to the OP.
  8. Nice report. That's a lot of back-breaking action for it all to end so tragically. Nothing quite like feeling hooked up to something decent in size. Looking forward to the next installment.
  9. Wow, never knew the Georges could look so good. Looks like a magical place to have a flick for bass. That's a nice little collection of photos and well done on your first bass.
  10. Good job guys, looking forward to the next report.
  11. Thanks everyone for your votes of confidence. I hope to contribute and further the efforts of the mod team to maintain a rule-abiding and friendly, fishraider atmosphere.
  12. Nothing quite like a long report to tuck into. Bad luck on all the niggling problems you experienced that day but I hope that would be the last of it. At the very least, you ended up catching some fish including a very respectable rat king which would have been still quite rewarding.
  13. Well done, you are still knocking off new species. Never caught a wrasse like that one before. No idea on what that big fish that dusted you could have been but probably a ray or a shark. I don't think a king would 'sit' there after it's meal, they seem to always be making a beeline somewhere whether toward structure or the horizon. A jew would also wake up pretty quickly after the hook set if it didn't know it was on.
  14. Well done guys, looks like a great day out.
  15. Fantastic report. That long car trip would have been really tough seeing all those creeks and waterways.
  16. Well done Ben, an interesting story and some nice fish on hbs to boot.
  17. Cheers fragmeister. Thanks Richard, looking forward to your future reports.
  18. Cheers Stewie, I guess thanks for the offer haha
  19. Thanks Dave, I worked hard for that fish! Always good to get a result. Cheers Ben, as they say, scratching an itch only brings temporary relief. Thanks a lot Jeff, it doesn't seem so long ago that I landed my first. Been missing that unique jewy smell on my rod grips and handle.
  20. Haven't used them before but they remind me of Fish Arrow Flash J's. A bit pricey but the next level up in realism.
  21. Hit the Georges River with aero.gard on his new boat recently to try and nail some jewies. It was tough going in the midday sun and fresh winds but we were rewarded with a couple of fish landed for our efforts of which one of them being a jew. Good fun as always. From the hook set it didn't feel like much (called it for a flatty initially) but it woke up as it got closer in to the boat. After a few tense minutes of stalemate with the fish being stubborn to being lifted off the bottom, up to the surface it went. Out came the net and after a few timely spurts of energy left in its attempts to evade the impending capture, into the net it went. Caught on a Squidgie fish in silver fox using a Sustain 2500FG on a Luvias rod 701mfs.
  22. Well done Ben. A ripper of a luderick on lure.
