  1. Welcome aboard Craig Good luck for tomorrow. Be sure to put up a report of your trip.
  2. Well done. Pity about the dropped bream but that's a very fat whiting. It is quite difficult to get good photos when solo. I just lay them on the grass because bream especially have a tendency to flop around and either spike me or hit the hard ground if they slip out of my hand.
  3. Thanks for your kind comments Ian. I hope you find the time to wet a line in the near future. That surface bite is still persisting and I know how much you enjoy that.
  4. Good stuff Jani. Don't let those fiesty breambos boss you around.
  5. Welcome back to Aus Jani. From that picture, it looks like Stewy is more excited than you that you're here.
  6. Well done Yowie. Nice bag of fresh fish and a stonker trev.
  7. @ Yowie - Thanks, very enjoyable. @ Stan - Plenty left over for you if you go down after work!
  8. Well done on a fantastic capture and enthralling report.
  9. Thanks for the comments guys. @reese @ beginner @adamski - Cheers guys, glad you enjoyed the read. @ Stewy - Net? Don't need that because you can't miss when the fish are all in a barrel. @ Richard - No not I, I just got lucky this week. @ ebow - I use size 2/4 hooks on 1.5g jigheads. @ Luke - Haha, just trying to expand the repertoire and enjoy some variety. @ Witha - Thanks, no lipless cranks were used. Bibbed fat divers and suspending divers twitched produced the goods. On the surface, poppers and walk the dog types were used. I still need to work on my technique on the walk the dog type imo. @ Jeff - You caught me there! Hope you get in some decent fishing in.
  10. Hi Raiders, It has not been long since my last report and I thought I'd give an update on how the Harbour/Parra system is fishing recently, particular this week. Spots fished were from Canada Bay to Rozelle Bay. In short, it's been on fire. The size of the fish isn't quite there but respectable, and they are actively feeding. Probably caught in excess of 60 fish over 3 sessions between myself and mates. Average size of bream were between legal to 30 cm, so very fun on the light bream gear. Plastics were the go but also hardbodies which include surface, floating divers and suspending jerk style divers. Blades also picked up a few fish so it seemed most lure types were working. Flathead seemed to take a liking to hardbodies as well which could be quite distressing if lodged deep in its gob. The trade off with such a scenario is that surface strikes from flatties are awesome to witness. Techniques for plastics include double hops and slow lifts, HBs also slow rolled or twitched if finicky and blades worked slow.
  11. I have had a 1000FG and 2500FG for over a year of hard fishing now but they still feel as good as they day I bought them. I haven't had the drag issues you are referring to, however, I did have to replace the drag washer from my 2500 after hooking a jew/shark and having the reel spool spin so fast it was going to levitate. It might be something simple like a misaligned drag washer. Those felt ones are very flimsy and if you have caught hard running fish and have taken them out and regreased them, then it's possible the integrity of it has changed. That's basically what happened to my 2500. The fibres started to come apart. I replaced them with carbon fibre ones and that fixed it.
  12. Megabass sigletts and Tiemco soft shell cicadas.
  13. It's funny how fishing works that way but it is what keeps us going back. Well done on the keeper blue swimmers.
  14. Bad luck on the dropped marlin, hopefully you have better luck next time.
  15. Congratulations Stewy, what a beast of a mulloway on lure. You'll never forget that one and every time you reminisce, I'm sure those thoughts will get the heart pumping. Over a metre on a lure, you've ticked that box now well and truly.
  16. Congrats Witha, that is a respectable bream to open the account with.
  17. Bad luck on the marlin but at least you guys found some action. Your mate must be itching to go out again.
  18. Happy to help, I look forward to hearing about it. Thanks Dave. Always a lot of fun to be out there catching fish and enjoying the sunshine.
  19. Well done mate, that is a very nice breambo.
  20. First of all, welcome to Fishraider. Definitely give plastics a try. Grab yourself some Zman grubz in motor oil and Squidgie wrigglers in bloodworm with 1/16oz size 2/4 hooks and you can't go wrong on the bream. Work them slowly with double hops and pauses and you should start seeing some results. Good luck. Nothing quite like a hot bite in a suburban and heavily fished setting. Zman grubz is a bream slayer. Thanks Richard. With a hot bite like this, I'm sure you would have picked up just as many bream!
